Kirkland... Elite? What? This is what we do now to hype up Golovkin wins?Do you know the meaning of an elite fighter?
Mayweather, Pacquiao, Martinez, Ward... THOSE are elite fighters. Yes Pacquiao even at this stage of his career is a better fighter than Kirkland. Kirkland on the other hand... nowhere near those guys. Stop it.

Chavez was lazy in those fights? I don't think so. He definitely wasn't lazy in the Lee fight.Comment

Ishida a better opponent than Zbik...
Kirkland an elite fighter...
Signing out from this thread. This is beyond ridiculous. Too much fanboyism for my liking.

You still trying?
Zbik had a lackluster performance vs Sturm but I'm pretty sure 60% of the people here will tell you he beat Chavez. Whether you like it or not Zbik IS a better option than Ishida. He's not shot to pieces, he has more power and he has better boxing skills.
Zbik a tune up fight for GGG? Based on what? Zbik would be his best opponent to date. Whether he's a tune up fight or not he's definitely a better option than Ishida. Not sure how you have the nerves to deny that.
What about Rubio? Did they even reach out to him before his fight vs Upshaw was scheduled? We cant really say for sure if they exhausted all their options or if they went straight to Ishida. They can just say no one wants to fight us as a simple promotion tactic.

Rubio is being lined up for both Quillin and Sergio, he's the #1 contender for both belts and he wont fight Golovkin in Monaco because it would remove him from both rankings and he would probably lose
Why is it that you're naming guys who ranked around 20 at MW?Comment

Kirkland at his peak was one of the best at 54.... You know (or should know) this
You should have stepped down awhile agoComment

Lol cmon are you really trying to hype up Zbik. No he wouldnt be his best opponent to date, im not sure how he's better then Ishida either. He doesnt even have a good win, and has lost 2 str8. His last won was almost 3 years ago and Ishida beat Kirkland less then 2 years ago

Kirkland was coming off a 2 year hiatus (prison stint) when Ishida KO'd him... you're not seriously comparing Zbik to Ishida are you?
The following guys have called Golovkin out within the last three months:
Rubio, Vera, Molina (>Rosado), Guerrero, Sergio Mora
The following fighters opponents would make for half-decent fights (much better than Fuchigami, Ishida, and Rosado or any GGG opponent outside of Proksa) and one or more should be willing and available for that title shot and possible payday:
Osumanu Adama, Max Bursak, Sebastian Zbik, Matt Korobov, Giovanni Lorenzo, Avtandil Khurtsidze, etc.Comment

Take out the Proksa win and GGG probably has the thinnest resume among the top 10 in the division.Comment

What top 20 middleweights has Golovkin fought outside of Proksa? I'll tell you how many, none.

The blizzard that hit the East Coast on Tuesday affected a few fight events, but Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs are just rolling with the punches.
Among the potential opponents who have been brought up are Marco Antonio Rubio (who lost a clear decision on HBO to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a title fight in earlier this year), Fernando Guerrero (a one-time blue chip prospect and Al Haymon client) and Brian Vera (who knocked out Andy Lee a few years ago and then lost every round to him in a rematch on HBO 13 months ago). I’m told that Rubio turned down the fight and that HBO (thankfully) rejected Vera. HBO would accept Guerrero, but there might be an issue between Haymon and K2 over future contract options. So we’ll see who they come up with for GolovkinComment
