Comments Thread For: Brian Vera Prefers Macklin Over Chavez or Golovkin Bouts

Middleweight contender Bryan Vera (22-6) is just days away from facing Donatas Bondorovas (17-3) on this week's edition of ESPN Friday Night Fights. The fight takes place in Verona, NY.

Vera spoke to us on BoxingScene Radio and said that he is already almost on weight.

"I had a great training camp. Great sparring. We are just making weight. I've only got a few pounds to go. Everything is good," Vera said.

Vera fought just two months ago when he defeated Serhiy Dzinziruk in January in another fight televised by ESPN. The 31-year-old said that his team wanted him to get one more fight in before he goes of one of the big names in the division. [Click Here To Read More]

I like Vera, he's a grittiness and toughness has helped him persevere in his boxing career and he's on the verge of a title shot. Looking forward to tonight's fight with him...

Truth. How can you not respect him? The dude has come up the hard way, and beat several opponents he wasn't supposed to.

      War Vera!

Vera got some balls. Let's see who GGG fights next claiming he "doesnt have any opponents"

        .....Again

Fernando Guerrero also wanted to fight GGG. Both he and Vera would have been more competitive than Ishida.

I'm kind of hoping that Brian gets the call from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. That will be a war and if Dinero de Vaca doesn't watch out he won't even make it to a rematch with Sergio Martinez.

Idk when two guys like Vera and Chavez go head to head I'd favor the guy with the size advantage almost 100% of the time. Vera been in more wars too.

even before GGG fought Rosado, guerrero was scheduled to fight quillin, and yes I know guerrero wanted GGG so bad but HBO wanted rosado, and for ishida, it's only a stay-busy fight, we should be glad, a guy like GGG is fighting 2nd time already this year, he might meet his goal to fight 5x this year!

I like Vera. He always comes to fight. Now with that being said, it sounds like he doesn't want any parts of GGG or JCC.

Yeah that's what it seemed like , Vera reminds me of Rubio has a good win every once in awhile to keep him relevant but is more of a name than anything else

Did you even read the article? He said he preferred to fight Macklin over GGG.
