The Andre Ward fight is irrelevant since Ward hasn't fought at Light Heavyweight yet and if they offered the right price they would fight.

I'm not using Hop in a derogatory way, but in a way to show contrast from Vitaly who many contend doesn't doesn't have any obligation to do the same thing.

No there have been many top fighters he hasn't fought. Not that I think he would have lost, but he should have still tried to make better fights.

I certainly give Hopkins some slack and probably will Vitali if he keeps fighting.

The problem for Vitali is that in the heavyweight division there's not that many "easier" but interesting fights.

I'm one of those that don't give a crap about alphabet titles though.
Alphabet titles are a joke. There can be only one world champion. I think its better for the sport and the fans if the contenders fight one another.

If you are a champion you are pretty much directed by the governing body - so it's not up to you. In non-mandatory fights one gets to be more picky (regardless of age). Of course the better opponents one choose more credit he gets.

Non-champion contenders should absolutely fight the best if they are aiming for the title.

Vits isn't the champion. And if he lets the governing body of a paper title control him he obviously doesn't care about legacy or the the fans.

If Hopkins said this is my going away party,my last fight against some chump and planned on giving up the belt then sure. But that's not Hopkins.

Of course that not not Hop. The best want to target the best, that's why they're remembered as great!

Young lions who have title and/or are considered at the top. Hopkins is a bad ass!

The only problem is basically whoever Wlad or Vital isn't fighting the other brother is fighting.

I wish Arreola could have fought and stopped Wlad that I think he can, and I wish Vital could have fought and stopped Haye. Big hyped heavyweight fights need to be saved for Vital because Wlad don't know how to act. He's so damn boring after all the shiiiit talk he just jab jab clinches and circles the whole time. Haye didn't try to get a knockout either which was his only chance. Its not that Vital hasn't had his meh fights and doesn't jab jab clinch sometimes but he's more scrappy. Vital vs Arreola and Lewis are 2 of my favorite current day heavyweight fights.
