Comments Thread For: Vitali Klitschko: After My Mandatory, Maybe I'll Fight Haye

I thought he made some relevant points. A shot at Vitali is not a shot at "the title". It's a shot at a belt. If Haye beat Vitali, he wouldn't be known as the heavyweight champion of the world, but the WBC title holder. Wlad is the man at HW. The fact that his brother is a belt holder has nothing to do with how badly Haye performed vs Wladimir. Vitali and Wlad are not the same person, do not share the same skills, athleticism, speed, power or accuracy.
Vitali is the champion for WBC. He should defend it against all comers, because as you say, it's the most prestigious belt out there. But he is not. Latest opponents include Charr, Chisora, Adamek and Solis in the last 3 years. If I remember correctly, only 1 of these were mandatory. So what's this new obsessesion with being honorable to the mandatory?
Now, I'm not suggesting he's scared of Haye at all. I don't think anyone would have a reason to think as tough a guy as Vitali would fear anyone. But it is still mesmerizing to think about why he would choose to go around Haye, when that fight brings him more than any other. In all terms, even satisfaction. Last time they met, David shook his hand and they smile and had a short laugh and David politely said: "I would really like a shot at your title". Vitali smiled and agreed.
This was after the Munich brawl.
But I agree, Wladimir is the only champion.Comment

How hard is it to understand that they both wanted to fight? Haye just wanted to fight Chisora which was already agreed. And no fight was offered in September, it was in May. One must ask himself this: Vitali seemed to be desperate to KO Haye, now all of a sudden Haye must get in line. When he becomes mandatory, I guarantee Vitali will not be the champion.Comment

WK just happens to hold most of the major title belts and by virtue of this, is recognised as the '"real" champion....that is, if we are ignoring the various organisations like IBF, WBO, WBA IBO etc. That's what I mean by ignoring reality.
VK is NOT a contender for any of WK's belts, nor his generally recognised superior status.
So all stop being childish. It was begun by that geezer who has a pictureof VK dressed in a pink woman's gown. This alone should show what worth there is to anything he says about Klirschko. He thinks he's clever by using one Klitschko to denigrate the other one. But, on this site, as soon as someone starts a malicious critique, the lemmings come out of the woodwork, and we suddenly have dozens jostling one another to
get their needle in. Fortunately VK has a strong reputation and many defenders. I personally I don't care, but like to correct nonsense when I see it, which is more often than I like. Kid stuff.Comment

Exactly Ihat i was trying to tell someone a little while ago. They are either confused or have suddenly become "purists" and revisionists, (as if anything about them could be called "pure'), and are ignoring the realities of what boxing has become for the past 40 or more years.
