When Lucas KO's Peterson the 140 division will be shaking in their boots.

Don't overlook Peterson. I understand Matthysse is the favorite, but Lamont is no pushover. He can win this fight.

I see a lot thinking/predicting Peterson actually stops Lucas, based on what?
The guy hit Khan with everything but the kitchen sink and didn't come close to stopping him. When we talk Khan we're talking a guy with actually no inside game that just laid against the ropes using that horrible earmuff guard & he got hit flush, a lot.

Who has he ever even knocked down or stopped? Kendall Holt? lol
Who hasn't? My great Auntie Sheila knocked him out too.

Its boxing, the unthinkable happens but I see nothing to suggest he comes close to stopping Lucas. I've seen him eat Judah, Ajose's, Soto's best shots, not massive punchers but I believe all 3 hit equally as hard as Peterson if not harder. He didn't just eat these shots, he licked his lips and did that sick grin as if he actually liked them.
That wasn't as if to say ''good shot you got me''

I can guarantee you if Garcia lands big with his left, Mathysse will have a different reaction.

Honestly if Matthysse KO'es Peterson I would be scared for them. He would officially be the top dog at 140 to me. I'm really looking forward to this fight. I think they both have about even chances and I can't choose who to root for lmao

I like Peterson, but I'm finding it difficult to see his path to victory in this one. I don't think he lives with Lucas on the inside, he was uncomfortable with Ortiz' pressure and Matthysse isn't going to be circling and picking his moments to come in like Victor was. He's going to be in Peterson's face all the time and I don't think Peterson is going to like it one bit. He's just going to get hit too much and it won't be Khan's pitty-pat bullshit he's absorbing either.

I can see him frustrating Matthysse a bit on the back foot. He can slip shots reasonably well and Matthysse will be open for counter left hooks and the occasional looping right which Peterson likes to throw. His stance is very wide when he's fighting that way however and he won't be able to keep Lucas at a comfortable distance. He doesn't adjust his feet quickly enough and he tends to lose his balance as he tries to shift position. And to be honest, even if he was able to it mightn't be enough with Matthysse's punch output.

It's not impossible that Peterson frustrates Matthysse enough on the outside to make it close enough for a decision in his favour, but on balance I don't think it's too likely.

Come on guys, feather-fisted Khan KO'd Zab in 5. Mathysse couldn't even pull it off in 12.. How a list of KO wins vs chumps can lead people to believing he'll KO Peterson is beyond me.. Hype train's about to derail..
