  • Any new information on Arturo Gatti's death investigation???

It looks like according to wikipedia, the last information so far given is that Arturo's death has in fact been ruled a homicide as of August 2011...

This means someone murdered Gatti and considering his wife stayed more than 10 hours in the hotel room and not know he was dead, shouldn't she be held as suspect number 1? Something is obviously being covered up or not reported by Brazilian police who may have been paid off, but I feel 100% she was involved with the murder.

Anyone got any other information on the case status??? You can't help but feel hatred for the woman who might be clearly responsible for his death is walking around a free woman looting off all his blood, sweat, and tears hard earned money. She even stated she told him he was a horrible boxer. The nerve that young biatch had!

Don't trust wiki, so far he committed suicide.. That's as far as we know, his own family has conduct their own autopsy with their own pathologist and they can't really say much apart from inconclusive results etc

Don't think he killed himself, I just can't imagine him doing that. And his wife had to been in on his murder if u ask me. Just can't prove it.

Ive read that more than like 85% of the murders in brazil are unsolved. I believe she set him up and had him murdered.

This is what I believe. The fact that she can't come up with any reason as to how she did not notice him dead for more than 10 hours in the same hotel room with him instantly throws up a red light of WTF??? Anyone with common sense could tell you whose the obvious suspect and even if she didn't physically commit the crime, she sure as hell had something to do with it.

He was obviously murdered. The story that the back of his head was bleeding from a rock prior to getting to the hotel was a made up lie. They interviewed the person at the hotel and he stated he say Arturo wasn't bleeding. He knows this because he saw the tattoos on the back of his neck and complimented him. Surely if he was bleeding profusely he would have noticed a massive amount of blood on his head!

              There is a ton more.

The July 2009 death of fan-favorite boxer Arturo Gatti is a highly controversial topic which still garners much debate to this day. The "ultimate blood and guts warrior" was brought into the homes of millions of sports fans across the country on dozens of occasions, and his death was both tragic and shocking.

On March 24, "48 Hours Mystery" aired a show which took another in-depth look at the case, in which Gatti's wife Amanda Rodrigues was originally arrested for murder before being released several weeks later when Brazilian authorities changed their ruling on Gatti's death to a suicide.

The show draws the conclusion that Gatti did, indeed, take his own life. They point to evidence of his alcohol abuse and depression problems, as well as previous suicidal tendencies and violent behavior. However, rather than clarifying the murky circumstances surrounding his death, the show does a better job at painting the picture of Gatti as a troubled man, which has been well documented in the past but has little bearing here.

The individuals the show interviews are by and large not actually witnesses - they're simply people with opinions one way or the other on what happened. As a result, the bulk of the show isn't new evidence about the case and the circumstances surrounding Arturo Gatti's death, but instead mere conjecture.

It comes off, to me personally, as an attempt at proving a theory - that Gatti committed suicide - rather than an attempt to dig up the truth.

That's a problem which is prevalent throughout the entirety of the case. The private investigators hired by Gatti's former manager Pat Lynch also don't seem as concerned with finding the whole truth as they are in painting Rodrigues as the murderer, while Brazilian police seemed content to close a troublesome case and wipe their hands clean rather than investigate.

One of the main questions or problems that the "48 Hours Mystery" piece raises with the murder scenario is: how could this 100 pound woman overpower a 160 pound ex-champion boxer?

However, previously in the show, they go to great lengths to document that Gatti was extremely drunk that evening, and had already suffered blunt force trauma to the back of his head during a bar fight which spurred on the violent events of the evening. It doesn't seem unlikely that a potentially concussed, potentially blacked out individual, could be surprised and overpowered by anybody.

The fact that Gatti signed a new will just weeks before his death, handing over his entire $6 million estate to Rodrigues provides a clear motive. The fact that Gatti's death occurred in Rodrigues' native Brazil adds more suspicion. The fact that previous investigative reports show that the purse strap which Gatti allegedly hung himself with could not have possibly supported his weight and killed him from the position he was reported to be in adds more credence to a murder having occurred.

The show also glosses over the fact that Rodrigues admits to walking past the body and not calling police. While crime scene photos show huge pools of blood on the floor, she claims she didn't see that there was anything wrong, and that there was no blood on the floor at that time.

It seems like conjecture and opinion are all we'll ever get regarding Arturo Gatti's death at this point, which is unfortunate, and in my opinion, the "48 Hours Mystery" show did little to clarify the mess.

The widow of former boxing champ Arturo Gatti has set up a business in Montreal and wants to be friends with the dead fighter’s family, according to Global Montreal.

Amanda Rodrigues Gatti was arrested in July, 2009, on suspicion of murder in her husband’s death. He was found dead in an apartment in Brazil while on vacation with his wife and young son.

She was released after an investigation by Brazilian authorities deemed the former junior welterweight champ’s death a suicide.

But Ms. Rodrigues Gatti was then embroiled in a nasty court battle with her in-laws over her husband’s $3.4-million estate.

She was awarded millions of dollars and moved back to Brazil.

She returned to Montreal in May, 2012, to tie up loose ends and told Global Montreal she plans to stay.

“I’ve learned how to love Montreal,” she said.

She has opened a new fashion boutique on trendy Saint-Denis Street and says she designed every item in it.

“It makes me feel very happy,” she said. “It was made with a lot of energy. It’s good energy, a lot of love.”

She said her four-year-old son, Arturo, is the other reason to stay in Montreal, which she describes as beautiful and safe.

She told Global Montreal she would like her mother-in-law to put aside her suspicions and be part of her life.

But Ida Gatti told the TV affiliate she is afraid to be in the same room as her daughter-in-law and is worried she would falsely accuse her of assault.

Global Montreal said it was told by Brazilian authorities that they are revisiting Mr. Gatti’s death and that a court hearing has been scheduled for next month.

“Prosecutor Paula Catherine Ismail is studying the process,” said Gilvan Oliveira, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office in the state of Pernambuco. “I think she will request more tests, more information about the crime. … It’s a big process.”

Ms. Rodrigues Gatti rejects any suggestion she could have been involved in her husband’s death and says she wants to get on with her life.

ray and anybody else concerned, as some of you might know, arturo was inducted in the hall of fame this past weekend. a new york post reporter, posted an "exclusive" article regarding arturo Jr. apparently he was brought there by amanda's friend victoria. amanda told the post that the reason she could not attend was becasue of her immigration status in canada. "really" with all the money she has and all her lawyer connections she could not get a tempoary advance parole to come to the event? also why was no one from the IBHOF approached when they were mentioning arturo? her friend victoria could have, should have announced juniors presence to someobody. pat lynch would have introduced arturo's daughter to her half brother..in front of everybody..that would have been awesome...but nooooo they kept him in hiding for whatever reason....if amanda really wanted to be there, lets face it ..she could have...that is if she had truly nothing to hide....arturo gatti was murdered and she has something to do with it...do not even think about flinching if you think it is anything else but murder.
