Very good post. Not sure I agree with the prediction, Remember those Latin Fury PPVs were a step down from regular HBO. As soon as Chavez graduated to title level, he moved to HBO first then HBO PPV. So I'd see Canelo on SHO PPV, with all the promo resources and$60+ price tag. But you're right GBP will have to go the independent PPV route for some of their guys, cause SHO can't bankroll them all.By going public with this news Hbo effectively:

1- Prevents GBP/Haymon from using them as a bargaining chip to drive up prices. Haymon/Schaefer can no longer say "HBO paid *enter a number* for *enter a GBP fighter's name* last fight driving up the price or causing a bidding war of sorts.

2- HBO effectively tells blue chip prospects if you sign with GBP you can forget fighting on our network

3- They also put pressure on Sho in that they (HBO) now have a bigger budget to pay TR, Cotto, DiBella, Shaw, Goosen, etc thus driving up the price for Sho to televise non- GBP fighters. Remember $200B+ is now locked in on 1 fighter. It's like baseball, you can back up the brinks truck for A-Rod but good luck fielding a team. Sho can pay Mayweather but how much do they have for Canelo and the rest of them. I predict GBP/Haymon will screw Sho and put Canelo on their own PPVs instead of giving it to Sho. Similar to what TR did to HBO when Chavez Jr became a draw.Comment

This is sort of a stalemate. HBO loses a stable of very good fighters the deepest stable in Boxing. GB loses the promotion power and deep pockets of HBO. HBO is above and beyond any other network when it comes to production and promoting fights. I blame Bob Arum for this shyt personally...he's trying to destroy a sport he helped build.Comment

It's not really, HBO only loses Broner, Hopkins and Thurman. The rest of the guys already moved to Showtime. Broner is the only big loss, and he's mostly featured in mismatches so far, with another on tap. And it's not like he's a star yet, though they we working very hard on it. Plus no guarantee he stays with GBP, Iole reports his contract is just about up.This is sort of a stalemate. HBO loses a stable of very good fighters the deepest stable in Boxing. GBP just produce fighters but it's HBO who turns them into stars. GBP made a big mistake when they listened to haymon who cares for no one but himself, they're so blinded of the easy buck, they do not think of the long termComment

Arum is probably the best promoter in the game, his events are way better than Golden boy productions, he is the guy who built up many of the legendary fights, and legendary fighters.

I just wish people could stop and realize Golden Boy is pretty much hurting boxing along with Haymon, Arum is like the scapegoat, if something isn;t right just blame Arum since they can't blame King anymore since he is irrelevant.

Do you remember when flod was going to prison in February that Bob arum said many pac will fight on may 5th, and then mayweather got the judge to push his time up to june?

Then bob arum changed many pacs fight date availability to june?? do you remember that or do you want me to post the article from ESPN SPORTS??

ARUM IS A PROVEN LIER!!! and he is a cheat!!! and convicted for bribing!!! and had his offices raided by the F.B.I. and you still back him?? your a ride or die top rank fan wrong or right? that seems pretty biased of you!!!

Broner is going to go with whoever Al Haymon tells him to go with and Golden Boy is Haymon go to guys for his fighters. There are no other promoters big enough with exception to Top Rank but Top Rank is not an option. Funny how a 90 year old senior citizen is still on his goon. It's not really, HBO only loses Broner, Hopkins and Thurman. The rest of the guys already moved to Showtime. Im with you on this, wtf am i gonna do with my hbo subscription? gonna have to cancel it !! What pisses me off is that boxing is becoming more and more like a damn jerry springer show!! Its all about the money, and beleive me I understand its a business but nodody gives a shyt about the boxing fans. If we as boxing fans would boycott all fights for one year then HBO, SHOWTIME AND GBP would sink !! ( Hah, wishful thinking ).Bad move for the fans,I suggest everyone cancel their HBO subscription & just stream the fights they want or go to a bar cos until this gets sorted we are the ones who lose out the most. The fact is GBP do have most of the fighters I wanna see,Gonna be interesting to see how this plays outComment
