Apart from his intense training in the high altitude, Castillo has also been on a strict diet where his personal chef Felipe Valdez prepares a special breakfast which consists of fruits, yogurts, variety of fibers with over easy eggs. After breakfast Castillo retires to his room and rests a few hours and then resumes training which includes intense sparring, shadow boxing, and 200 situps. Castillo finishes his day with meals especially prepared with low fats but with high nutrition.
Castillo will end his Camp on January 29th as he travels to Hermosillo, Mexico where there he will get his work visa from the American Consolate and from there will fly to El Paso, Texas with his team on a private plane.
"I brought in the new year with my team at a ranch that we rented and it was a very special night. This year my resolution to regain my world title and this will take a lot of hard work and sacrifice as I enter my 11th world title fight and all were at lightweight. I'm going to tell you a few things. I'm going to come in less than the weight limit for this fight and knock out Corrales again, regain my title, and then I'm going to move up to junior welterweight and challenge Miguel Cotto for his world title."

Castillo recently received some good news. He was informed that his first fight with Diego Corrales as selected as Fight of the Year by the WBC. Castillo was given the gratifying news directly from WBC President Jose Sulaiman as he returned back from training at the Gym.
Castillo and Corrales fought their unification bout on May 7th 2005 in one of the most dramatic, brutal, and memorable fights of all time. The fight to many had a controversial ending because of the timing of the 10th round stoppage by Tony Weeks but nothing can take away from the action of the two combatants prior to the stoppage.
"It is an honor that the WBC has selected my first bout with Diego Corrales was their fight of the year," stated Castillo. "Now I'm really motivated to continue putting on even better fights in other divisions with other champions in 2006," an emotional Castillo stated.
"I remember very well the actions of Tony Weeks in the first fight with Corrales but the past is the past and what's important is for me to reach my goals for 2006."
