Former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir “King” Khan was delighted when Richard Schaefer announced that Golden Boy are putting together a tournament at 140lbs, as recently revealed on BoxingScene. The tournament will start when Danny Garcia defends his WBC and WBA titles against Zab Judah on April 27th, which will be followed by Lamont Peterson versus Lucas Matthysse, for Peterson’s IBF belt, on May 18th. The next stage will match the winners of those two contests, with Khan waiting in the wings.

Khan does not deserve this. He should have to fight his way up the ladder. Mattyhse and Garcia are 1 and 2. Petey is #3 for GBP. Khan is a muppett.

Khan is the homie but this is unfair, it would be better if the Garcia-Judah winner fights the Matthysse-Peterson winner and the losers of those fights then fight and the winner of that fights Khan then winner of that fights the winner of the other fight

goldenboy doing the dam thang. but khan can forget the garcia match for a while.garcia may get passed judah but he won't beat the peterson vs mathysse winner. its a very strong possiblity that khan will be facing peterson in a rematch. and i'm not totally ruling out khan vs mathysse.

Of course Khan is happy, the rest of the fighters have to walk through fire in their fights, and Zab isn't a pushover when motivated. All Khan has to do is beat a shot fighter who's best days were when Khan was still an amateur!

I agree.. This is not really a tournament if Khan automatically gets pushed to the final round. That's BS. Especially when the only fighter he could beat is Zab.

They should throw Ajose Olsegun (I think he's with Gary Shaw) in there. Make Khan fight him in the first round.

No its not. He's saying the losers should figure eachother and khan get the winner of that instead of getting to fight whoever wins the tourney
