Comments Thread For: Dereck Chisora, Warren Eye David Price Showdown

British heavyweight Dereck Chisora claims his meeting with the British Boxing Board of Control which saw him issued with a new British licence was "all tea and biscuits".

Chisora lost his licence last March after a brawl with David Haye in Munich following a world-title fight defeat to Vitali Klitschko.

The 29-year-old lost a resulting fight with Haye at Upton Park last summer, with both competitors fighting under licence by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.

But now Chisora has his licence back and is back in training ahead of a return to the ring in promoter Frank Warren's show at Wembley Arena on April 20.

"It was all tea and biscuits with the board - I told them I was taking my medication," Chisora joked of his meeting with the BBBofC.

"It is a big relief, it was mental, but now I'm a happy man. I have been training and it has been going all right, I've gone back to basics."

Warren has kept faith in Chisora, who lost to Robert Helenius before falling to defeats against Klitschko and Haye, and suspects the former British heavyweight champion is ready to show everyone what he is made of.

    Price-Chisora is an interesting matchup.

Which of these two HWs who were KOed in their last fight can come back and have a successful career?

      Easy fight for Chisora.

Chisora went down from bombs by a hard hitter in Haye. Price went down from a poke on the head!

even before the thompson fight this was a talked about step up fight for price. i've always said chisora is a strong guy & isn't pushed around in the trenches against bigger opponents. he pushed helenius & klitschko around & both may have come out victorious but they were injured. chisora is slow & lacks power so it's guys like haye who will give him problems. chisora will go right after price & try to bully him inside. he's at his best in the 235-240 range. the BBBoC could order this as a mandatory defence to be made by price. would he be willing to step up to the plate or would he vacate & try & rebuild himself? this is quite a dangerous fight for price. he would get the same flack fury did if he chose to vacate instead of defend vs chisora(presuming warren could get chisora a mandatory spot). the funny thing is "the big stiff idiot" is in limbo while fury is ranked in the top 5 in the world by 2 governing bodies & about to fight in an IBF eliminator in new york...who made the wise business move career wise & financially? that's a toughy...call fury a duck or whatever for not fighting price but he is on the cusp while maloney could go out of business if price doesn't rebound...

It would still be a huge fight and I think it's one of the best that could be made in the division.

Chisora vs Price would be a very good match up at the moment. But both fighters need some lesser opposition first. Both need to get going again, so to speak.

In hindsight, Fury sure made the more clever moves career wise. But then again, who expected Price to get knocked out like that? Not many, and certainly not team Price...
