The March 2 card featuring a main event of Richard Abril vs. Sharif Bogere had 1,137 tickets sold and another 311 tickets given away for free, according to figures provided by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Another 209 tickets went unsold.

The seven-fight card — held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and aired on Showtime and Showtime Extreme — pulled in a total gate of $116,250. That is an average of $102.24 per ticket sold.

I didn't even bother to stay home to watch it,i said it one day before the fight I wasn't going to watch it because I was sure there would be headbutts and a lot of holding,then I watched the replay and exactly as I said,or like many thought too,just watching two guys hold and hold all night is just frustrating to watch

This is a lot better than I would expect for an Abril headliner.

the money that the promotors are pulling in isn't all from the gate. showtime pays money to be able to put the fight on its airwaves. showtime is paid by the subscription.



if you looked around you could probably find a twitter post from one of the top writers who concerns himself with purses that has the fighters' purses.

they certainly aren't making a ton of money for a fight on showtime, but it's better than ESPN, which often splits 10 grand for its main event.


i'm guessing that both pulled in less than 100 K. 40-80K sounds about right, but i am speculating. not bad for one fight and a 8-12 week training camp. after expenses you have less, but nevada has no state income tax, so they're still pulling in good money.

abril holds a championship belt, so he's got a sanctioning fee, but he's also going to get a larger purse because he's a "world champion," and can be billed accordingly when he fights.

Can u imagine a fight with Miguel Vasquez and Richard Abril? That would be one of the ugliest, most awkward fights in modern memory.
