Most boxers come from a low income family, have a low level of education and generally do not know how to handle all of the money.

Consider also that they pay their managers around 30-35% of the purse, then they pay their cut men, corner men and trainers. This is paid from what is left after Uncle Sam takes his huge cut. Fighters are a rare breed that will go through the torturous training every day in hopes of making the money. Most will never earn enough per year to live on alone, therefore most fighters will also have a job that they tend to when not training.

You want to see if you got what it takes to fight? I say first lets see if you have what it takes to give everything that you have in the gym, then go to work for 8-10 hours after that. You will not recieve any compensation for months of training at a time. If you really believe that you have what it takes and can live at a level of poverty while your doing it then you may have a chance. Otherwise, I would recommend staying in school and getting that piece of paper that the world thinks makes a man.

but wouldn't it be easier then instead of squandering it to just invest the million dollars they make into a successful company?? why don't they ever do that? plus as you said most aren't very educated, how exactly do they get by financially when they go into retirement then??

1 in a million? You think so? Seems like it would be a higher number of rich fighters. How many pro fighters are there in the world?

Nigel Benn says he was offered $3million to fight Michael Nunn just after the Nunn-Kalambay fight, that was back in the 80's. I assume he made atleast a million in the Iran Barkley fight. I know he made about a million dollars in the first Eubank fight, and three or four million in the second Eubank fight. He would of made over a million with the McClellan fight, too.

Chris Eubank made almost a million dollars in the first Benn fight, about two million dollars in the second Benn fight, over 15 million dollars on his World Tour, and millions more in the rest of his fights (especially in his pomp on ITV when he was super-famous, between the Watson II and Benn II fights).

Herol Graham made next to nothing, he retired without **** in his bank.
