How often is it that pro boxers end up as millionaires??

I was wondering about a boxers pay, how is it decided?? popularity???? or is it just the amount of wins he's got?? plus I heard that alot of a boxers pay from the championship fights end up going towards the cutmen, trainers and manager; leaving the boxer with no more then 250g. Is it true?? also do most of them have day jobs or do they make a living through boxing?

I think most pros make a living through it, and world class fighters are usually millionaires. Have you seen Nigel Benn's house? It's ****ing huge, so yeah, they must earn loads.

Most low doen pros need a secon job to survive. It usualy matters who you are. If you are an olympic gold medal winner you will make more on your pro debut than just an average guy turning pro. When you first turn pro you usually get paid £/$100 per round. When your fighting 4 round fights thats not very much, especially since your pay is taxed and your only fighting every few weeks or months.

It would probably help to have a sponsor. But that takes having talent and exposure. When Ali came home with the gold he had a group of business men waiting to sponsor his pro career. They invested a million bucks or so. Or one could have cult status ala Kimbo Slice, although hes a thug ex convict rapist, he's somewhat known. etc. etc. etc

for a boxer to end up a millionaire they have to invest their money wisely, be a self promoter and have marketabilty and most important have people around you that have your best intrest at heart...for example george foreman is a multi millionaire every body and their mother got one of his grills...rjj is a millionaire w/o ever having a promoter he always did his own negotiations and had side deals for example with the jordan brand...odlh probably the richest boxer ever will use anything to make money for example his looks invested his money has his own promotion co.....tito trinidad also invested his money well and can say he did not get screwed by king because he had a loyal circle around him for example his dad was his manager so you know he was not going to let his son get screwed over by king....

And the sponsors , in mma you now have guys like Yoshida making minium $1million per fight, the guy is always wearing a gi and tons of sponsors are listed on his gi. Plus He's also an olympic athlete (so that helps I guess). Royce made 1.8million recently too.

Those who are fortunate enough to make that kind of money do not realize that the ride is a short lived one and they tend to squander what ever they may have earned through their careers. Most boxers come from a low income family, have a low level of education and generally do not know how to handle all of the money.

Consider also that they pay their managers around 30-35% of the purse, then they pay their cut men, corner men and trainers. This is paid from what is left after Uncle Sam takes his huge cut. Fighters are a rare breed that will go through the torturous training every day in hopes of making the money. Most will never earn enough per year to live on alone, therefore most fighters will also have a job that they tend to when not training.

You want to see if you got what it takes to fight? I say first lets see if you have what it takes to give everything that you have in the gym, then go to work for 8-10 hours after that. You will not recieve any compensation for months of training at a time. If you really believe that you have what it takes and can live at a level of poverty while your doing it then you may have a chance. Otherwise, I would recommend staying in school and getting that piece of paper that the world thinks makes a man.
