What Does a Loss to Malignaggi to Broner's Stock?

Though I don't see that happening, how damaging would it be for Broner to lose to Malignaggi right now?

It would be very damaging imo but not totally irretrievable, they could build him back up using the 'we moved him up too soon' explanation.

Obviously, it depends on how he lost. If he looked slow, sluggish, like he didn't belong at welterweight, then I don't think you could hold it against him too much. If he looks fine, but Paulie clowns him with movement and his jab, then obviously Broner looks a lot worse. People would still say he's just young and he'll learn.

I don't think people will care how he looks, they will rip him a new one. And I'll be there doing the same.

He'd got the way of Juan Diaz.

Devastating. Losing is one thing. But losing to a fighter that you cherry picked would be embarrassing.

Nothing. HBO is locked into him. Paulie at this stage of his career can win the fight. Everyone is laughing at the fight but Paulie will give him some trouble.

A loss wouldn't drop his stock much at all really. And Paulie won't put a beating on him. This kid is going to lose fights. People need to really stop thinking he's Floyd.

I think based on how he carries himself already as this uncrowned P4P Elite, it could be a lot more damaging. Kinda like the term "Don't write checks your ass can't cash", he'd have to build himself back up with a new approach and not being such a douchebag because people by then will just say "Yea, but you lost to Paulie Malignaggi lol".

Worst case scenario is he gets KO'd by Malignaggi which obviously is the furthest from our minds, but crazier things have happened in the World (Example).

Personally, I think they're rushing the kid too quickly.

Broner's stock won't drop one bit after Paulie boxes circles around him. He'll just drop back down to 135 or 140 where he belongs. I do expect a bunch of excuses though (he should have never jumped up 2 divisions, he was fighting with a messed up shoulder, he was too small for welterweight anyway, Broner young he's still learning)

Not much tbh. He can always retreat to a lower weight class & claim the weight was too sudden. Like Burner said Broner is going to lose fights, losing to a fighter 2 weight classes bigger is not career ending imo.
