Wierdly, I wanted Hopkins to win, was glad to see him win and thought he schooled Cloud on a few levels, certainly defensively & in ring generalship.

But as a casual obsever without keeping score or listening to the commentators much (noisy room!), my impression was that the fight was pretty close.....nothing like 117-111 material.

I did like Cloud's combination work at times and felt that he landed possibly the harder/eye catching blows. He didn't seem to be hurt at any point in the fight, but he did seem to have Hopkins at least respecting his power. Activity wasn't great between the two men, but Cloud as defending champion wasn't given much credit for his aggression.

I may watch the fight again, but on impression felt that for all the wily Hopkins great showing, perhaps Cloud should have kept his title and undefeated record with a narrow win or at worst a draw.

A challenger should do more than Hopkins did to take a title in my opinion. But as a huge Hopkins fan, I'm still delighted for him and his new record. He was remarkable for his age.........particularly his reflexes!

when i watched Kessler-Froch as a casual observer without keeping score in a noisy room (while also on the phone), i got the impression Kessler won. didn't get that impression when i rewatched and scored, though.

the poll or the fight itself? if the former, i agree, i was expecting around 95% of votes for Hopkins. it has the better part of a month still to run, though.
