Tell me one single round which Hopkins CLEARLY won in the Cloud fight.

Do you know what the problem with you is? You fall for HBO's pro-Hopkins cheerleading. You said round 7 is a "clear Hopkins round". I rewatched that round and I felt Cloud won it. It was somehow close, but I felt Cloud won it. Did you see his bodyshots? Can't you see that Hopkins doesn't do a lot, and 50 % of what he does is shoe shining, meaning throwing punches which don't even connect?
I heard HBO was cheerleading really hard for Hopkins in this round, and I guess Mr. S. Bum Saddler was influenced by the cheerleaders named Lampley and Co.
Or do you want to tell me Hopkins "Clearly won that round" when you watch that round muted?

Translation: "In my opinion Cloud won that round".

Even if you hear the punches, you can't always tell if the punch lands in the face or on the gloves (meaning if the punch is blocked or not).

But as a casual obsever without keeping score or listening to the commentators much (noisy room!), my impression was that the fight was pretty close.....nothing like 117-111 material.

I did like Cloud's combination work at times and felt that he landed possibly the harder/eye catching blows. He didn't seem to be hurt at any point in the fight, but he did seem to have Hopkins at least respecting his power. Activity wasn't great between the two men, but Cloud as defending champion wasn't given much credit for his aggression.

I may watch the fight again, but on impression felt that for all the wily Hopkins great showing, perhaps Cloud should have kept his title and undefeated record with a narrow win or at worst a draw.

A challenger should do more than Hopkins did to take a title in my opinion. But as a huge Hopkins fan, I'm still delighted for him and his new record. He was remarkable for his age.........particularly his reflexes!

@comment: this is exactly what I am saying the whole time: if you watch the fight without listening to the commentary, you see a total different fight. It was a razor close fight and no way did Hopkins outclass anybody. It was a fight with not a lot happening and both showing at times boxing skills. And yes, for his age Hopkins is really awesome. But did he win the fight? I felt no. Did he do enough to take the title from a champion? HELL NO.
And Sugarj sees it the same way I saw it cause he didn't listen to the commentary. End of story.
All these HBO or Hopkins fans believe the fairy tale which HBO is telling them about what is happening in the fight because 1.) they don't know any better or 2.) they don't care about the truth.

Didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings but that is how I see it. And I am finally glad to see there are quite a few people on this forum who saw it the same way as I did.
