What do you think of Max Kellerman?

I think Kellerman is better in studio than ringside as a commentator. He is a big boxing fan but not my favorite ringside blow-by-blow guy.

He's ok.A little pretentious when it comes to comparing modern day fighters with those from almost a hundred years ago,but at least he isn't senile or extremely biased.

I used to watch his public access cable show about 15-20 years back. His enthusiasm is good and he seems to have a decent amount of knowledge of the sport. I don't mind Kellerman at all.

Max Kellerman grew up in a posh apartment on Fifth Avenue. His parents are very wealthy and his psychiatrist father, Henry Kellerman, has a lot of important connections.

Kellerman attended a publicly funded but exclusive high school that has been criticized for being very reluctant to admit black and Hispanic students. In 2009, only 3% of the students were black and 1% were Hispanic.

Yup... You dont see it on HBO, but Max is absolutely hilarious in studio and on the radio. His radio show with Marcellus Wiley on ESPN Los Angeles 710 is excellent sports talk radio.

The only thing I dont like is they talk too much Lakers and NBA, but it is LA.. Otherwise, the show is great. Lots of joking around about women, boxing talk, social issue talk, etc.


Yea, i seriously dont get the hate for Max. Dude is a student of the sport and has a massive knowledge of boxing. Since he's fairly young, that means he has gone back and done the requisite homework to be able to speak intelligently on events that happened before he was even born. He makes a great analyst, but isnt very good at play-by-play or color commentary. I remember him taking Lampley's spot in a fight last year and his calls were really bland lol.



Also, about Lampley.. The reason everyone hates him here is why HBO keeps him around. Lamps is biased and be over the top, but that's his job. He's there to liven up the fight for casuals and push the HBO favorite. He's like the boxing version of **** Vitale or Gus Johnson.
