If Trout beats Canelo, I see the same people saying Canelo wasn't any good to begin with, and again Trout shouldn't get much credit for it.

Trout will get credit from the hardcores, but it will be drowned out by the damage control of the "I want Canelo to be the star" agents.
Trout is cursed with a lack of appeal, but blessed with the ability to box. The majority can't appreciate the latter tho.
In todays game just winning isnt enough, you need the major/mainstream media to put $$s up to push you to the masses.

Or you need to do the extras to gain attention, Trout aint getting/doing either. Just winning is only enough to us hardcores who know

Trout beat Cotto by about the same amount of points that Mayweather did and he did it in Cotto territory. Will Canelo will get credit from his critics if he beats Trout convincingly? Many on Boxing Scene are picking Trout to beat Canelo.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I can tell you that if canelo beats Trout (convincingly), I will absolutely give him credit.
