Is Oscar De La Hoya Rebranding Victor Ortiz

I asked that because of the recently bad fights he had. His loss to Floyd Mayweather and then a broken jaw to Josesito Lopez. The commercials and Dancing with the Stars stuff, is that Oscar's way of rebranding him to make him a household name and then put him back in the ring? What do yall think?

I think this is just Ortiz getting media work himself.

The truth is that Ortiz is a really good fighter. He may not be elite, but he's no bum. He has speed, power and a good chin despite him quitting vs Maidana and having it broken.

The shot he took from Berto and got up from was nothing short of amazing.

He's a good looking kid and definitely marketable. I think it would be smart for GB to get this kid another chance at the top and see where he can go.

Oscar is "confused" and so is Ortiz, they make a great pair
Ortiz is exciting in the ring, and that should be all he needs
but those 2 checkouts are gonna haunt him for the rest of his career
he'll need a big win or 2 to recover, and he's not tough enough to get it
GB already tried to push him as the next sensation and failed
Ortiz is just another fighter, nothing special about him

Absurd, you don't become a world champ and you're "just another fighter".

LOL@ fans who think it's so easy. Man, if you're name isn't Mayweather, Pacquaio or Marquez...you are basically just another fighter.

BTW, Oscar is far from confused, he knows what he possibly has in Ortiz and anyone would be foolish not to invest in this kid simply for the possibilities.

Ortiz wasn't a world champ, he won a paper belt from Andre Berto
Ortiz is big and has some speed and power, but that's all
he's not going to become a superstar, he's just another fighter
can't even see him becoming the man at any division he's in

Youre spot on in your analysis. He definetely has the ingredients to be a huge attraction one day. I definetely dont agree with him quitting against Maidana and I feel like the Josesito incident was a freak accident but he has solid wins against Berto and Lamont (I know they called it a draw).

I wouldnt be surprised if they are lining him up to redeem himself against the winner or loser of Maidana/Lopez, maybe a berto II would bring him back in the mix and possibly fight Khan down the road. I think he has a ton of good fights left in him, hes really young - people forget hes only in his mid 20's, he's still a bit immature but he will be back strong.
