  • Comments Thread For: Ishida's Trainer Discusses Gennady Golovkin Showdown

Nobuhiro Ishida’s trainer admits that his boxer will be facing the toughest middleweight in the world in Gennady Golovkin, but he has every intention of winning when they fight in Monaco on March 30.

The pair headline the “Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super Four” tournament with Golovkin, the WBA and IBO middleweight champion, a favourite against the Japanese.

“He’s the toughest middleweight out there, the best in the world, but we intend to go there and win,” says Rudy Hernandez, one of boxing’s finest trainers and cutman.

He has had Ishida (24-8-2, 9 KOs) in camp at the Maywood Boxing Club in California and says that preparations are on song.

GGG by KO in the 4th to 5th round, sadly after this fight no one will want to fight him because its too risky...kind of like fighting lucas matthysse risky! High risk low reward...

I like Ishida. Anytime I wanna smile I watch the Kirkland fight. Coolest part besides the win, was the interpreter they brought in out of the crowd to translate after the fight. And then we see the interpreter now in the corner of Ishida. What a fun story that is.

As for the fight, I just don't see GGG getting sidetracked this time. He's like a freight train speeding along at full blast. We may even see him as the undisputed champ eventually.

Ishida's making a nice journeyman living off the Kirkland win
he's been owned in his last 2 fights and now gets Golovkin?
he might take more punishment in this than he should
Golovkin will work him like a heavybag until the ref or corner stops it

I call an early KO by Golovkin, and I'm one of the few that's not convinced that he's all that good.

Although I believe in Gennady's power I think this one will go to distance. Maybe late stoppage, but more likely down to scorecards.

I hope Trip G ends this early. I don't wanna see Ishida take punishment for 12 rounds. He's a tough guy and it would not be a pretty sight watching his face get pummeled.
