sombody his size and age takes months to put on lean muscle in the lbs. months.

if he's put a bunch of muscle on in such a short period he's likely on the gas. i don't think that's the case. i think he's just looking a bit bigger than you're used to because he's not in fighting shape yet.

and agreement on solis. that guy is a fat, useless piece of garbage. he's literally obese. there are 30 lbs to lose (easily.)
That's not true...I m 33 years old 1 year older than Rigo..I m 5' 6" and I used to weight 118 pounds (I played soccer every day) I started a better diet, less running (only three times a week) and weight lifting and in 5 month I gain 30 pounds(I m 148 pounds now) and still have not fat..that was all natural(not steroids or tetosterone bosters)..Pedro Luis Dias is a Cuban doctor, former nutritionist and fisical trainer of the cuban amateur national team..I m sure that if he wants a more muscular Rigondeaux in 6 month he will get Rigo there without steroids...I m sure Rigo is and will be in perfect physical form. .

I was thinking the same thing too, Rigo looks thicker than he normally does. Maybe he is thinking of adding some muscle to increase his punch resistance and power. Solis looks like utter trash though, LMAO

Back in the day I used to be completely gassed after sparring 6 two minute rounds.
Yeah, it seems so counterintuitive. But appearances aren't always good indicators of physical capability. There are plenty of guys that look like they should be able to punch holes in the walls, but can barely crack an egg. Then there are anemic looking guys that'll loosen your teeth for you.

Solis may not be in great shape for a world class heavyweight, but he is still a gifted athlete. We make fun of him, but he's not a regular guy. His inherent cardio-capacity is much higher than that of your average man. In addition, despite appearances, Odlanier probably puts in lots of work. At the very highest levels, Solis would need to be in peak condition. However, his current level of opposition allows him to coast.

His cardio has to be pretty amazing. People take it for granted but it is a quality that certain fighters have naturally that other fighters can never attain regardless of training.

Also - he is very relaxed in there and he has fought at the highest level of the sport for going on a decade. James Toney is the same way.

Any way you cut it I think it's a shame. I find it hard to believe he does anything other than the minimum necessary to be looking the way he does. I am in good shape now but I weighed 30 lbs less when I used to box. I can't even begin to imagine what I would have needed to eat to gain 60-70 lbs while also maintaining a regular training schedule.

What people are seemingly missing is that you can be strong as hell and pretty fit whilst still eating too much greasy food and a ton of carbs, creating a flabby physique.
Solís is fat but not just from sitting on the couch.
Also, like a big James Toney or an old George Foreman, he knows how to love his body very efficiently and avoid punishment.
I know when I first went down a good Thai boxing gym sparring with all their fighters after a year out and having put on 21kg I was still outlasting them and out boxing them. I'd been doing weights and though flabby was strong and had good technique and especially tactics compared to them guys. Hadn't done any cardio in like a year...
Solís is in a lot better state for boxing than he looks. Not just defending him but there's more than mets the eye as well. He ain't as bad as he looks. Should sort it out though quite simply.

I run regularly and have competed in a couple of 5Ks (3.1 miles). I've been in pretty good shape, but I've seen people that I feel I should be dusting and they're surprisingly fast and possessed of good endurance.

A friend of mine finished the NYC marathon a few years ago. He told me he was amazed at some of the things he saw: overweight guys outrunning him; one guy running in dress shoes (lol), etc. So much of it is genetics.

                  Yikes! lol

And you're right, it's a damn shame. Solis might well wake up one day and regret the way he flushed his potential down the toilet.

I agree. The real problem with Solis is that he should be competing with the best fighters in the division. Against sub-par opposition, Odlanier can be considerably off his best. Against the top guys, Solis must be honed to a sharp edge. He just doesn't seem motivated to climb to the top of the mountain.
