Yeah he was tested. It was his first fight that went that distance, and a light hitting gatekeeper landed on him consistently with the left hook. Let's not forget this fight was supposed to be a showcase for Thurman but that's not what happened. It showed both flaws and strengths of your boy. Higher level of competition, too soon, would not be good for Keith.

And I like the kid okay. But they need to advance his career smartly get him accustomed to world class fights instead of putting him in with a killer veteran.

Maidana has looked in better shape and defensively more sound of late too, and I'd even take the old version of Maidana over the current Keith. I mean come on, the kid just barely started going over 8 rounds, and you expect him to walk through the fire of Maidana so soon? You must not like your boy very much.
Where did get the idea that Zaveck was a handful for Thurman? Then again you think Maidana vs Lopez is a given... Even in the championship rounds when fatigue was kicking in he still handled the guy (a tough vet) with ease and didn't panic, he showed good composure. Zaveck's power had ZERO impact in the fight so it's STILL irrelevant. When has Maidana looked better defensively and why? Cause he was trying to imitate some bs on the ropes vs Karass? Yea ok.

Oh btw, if you wanna talk about everything he can handle, let's talk about Maidana being handled by a china chin Khan and struggled vs a shot to **** Morales. Hell, some people even thought he lost. If he couldn't KO Khan what makes you think he will be able to KO the bigger guy Thurman? Come on dude.

can Maidana not make JWW anymore?
there's better fights for him there if he can still make it
if he stays at WW, would like to see Maidana-Bradley
Bradley needs a win in an exciting fight to revitalize himself
Maidana-Ortiz 2 is good too, if Victoria is man enough to do it

That's exactly my point, Zaveck's power didn't effect Thurman because Zaveck doesn't have much power. Maidana is the other end of the spectrum. You think Thurman wouldn't be phased by Maidana's power, considering how much he can be tagged by an inferior gatekeeper in Zaveck? Good luck

Also you gotta love revisionists. Khan was the man, or near to, at 140 when Maidana fought him, with wins over Judah, Malignaggi, and Kotelnyk. Plus his considerable financial base. Speed and power on a tall frame for 140. But now that he's lost to peterson and garcia, he's a china chinned bum. Revisionists. Oh, and Morales is a hall of famer and had some left for Maidana. He even went on to get a win over Cano (a guy comparable in level to your Zaveck incidentally) after his loss to Maidana. There's no shame in having a battle with Morales and winning.

Finally I see from your commenting on Maidana's moves off the ropes that you actually watched the fight. That's good, too many haters try their schtick without even checking the fights. But, if you did check the fight then you saw Maidana's ******* jab and straighter shots. You might have noticed against Khan that he utilized mostly overhand rights and uppercuts with some lobbing hooks, a lot of which he smothered. You might have also noticed he was so slow in that fight and much of his power drained because of Khan's body work. Back to the Karass fight, you. SHOULD have noticed the vast difference between the Maidana that fought in the previous four fights and that fight. You might call that bs but I call that VERY promising improvement under a better trainer.

I see him losing to Lopez to be honest.

This the thing, Lopez is tailor made for Maidana. Even the old swing-for-the-fences no defense or jab Maidana. Anything he adds to his game under Garcia is just bonus.

Lopez is a guy who likes to mix it up, with less pop than Chino. He really caught Ortiz with a perfect shot but Maidana has the stronger punches. If two people are in a finesseless firefight and one has more power..

Its a simple assessment but brutally accurate.
