Maidana doesn't duck... His team decided the prospect Thurman wasn't a high profile enough fight and the risk was that Maidana wouldn't look as good winning against Thurman as he did against Karass. For someone angling for more money and more high profile fights, it just wasn't a good fit for Chino. But he will fight anyone. There is no cowardice in Maidana. That's crazy talk, to put it bluntly.

I think Maidana has paid dues, he deserves to be fighting more than young lion prospects no one wants to face, and get paid beans for it. A nice high profile fight for Chino would be the Guerrero fight. Guerrero will be coming off of a loss to Mayweather so it will be a pretty high profile fight. The Ortiz rematch would be fun, but I think he should save that for later. Malignaggi fight would snag him a belt, but would be an ugly fight. Berto would be an exciting affair but Berto is damaged goods, and guerrero will be the new path to Mayweather, so...

    Guerrero, my choice

I think so. Maidana has ended prospects before. Ortiz, Cayo, Petrov. Maidana has way more depth and so on. Thurman a hard puncher but so is Maidana. Devon had faced quality opposition prior to the Maidana fight. He was a stiffer test. Who has Thurman beat? Quintana? He's damaged goods from Berto isn't he? Who, incidentally, I also feel Chino beats, so..

So if he's ended so many prospects why didnt he take the Thurman fight before? I guess we'll find out who's right if they ever fight or will Thurman even get credit by then? I can see it now tho, "Maidana is a beat up club fighter".

PS It's not even a given Maidana gets past Lopez.
