Comments Thread For: Pablo Cesar Cano Focused on Securing Title Shot Soon

you keep stating your opinion that Cano won, but to what ends? you think Cano won clearly, others think it was more arguable than that, great. Cano put on a good show, a good case can be made that he won, but he still missed weight, which devalues his performance somewhat.
that said, at the end of the day, two guys gave us a very good fight and we can all have our opinion over who won (Malignaggi was booed into the ring as well as from it, so it's not like the crowd reaction is much of a gauge).
so what's the beef? why the need to take shots at Malignaggi and so forcefully project your opinion that he lost on other posters? are you just still upset at Paul for beating the hell out of Slava?Leave a comment:

on his second weigh in he was almost still a pound over weight.
I also didn't think he won, he lost the vast majority of the first 10 rounds.Leave a comment:

is this a pisstake? Cano received notice that he'd be fighting Paulie at least 2 and a half months prior to the date of the fight. that is not short notice. the average training camp lasts 8 weeks. can you do the math or do i have to do it for you?Leave a comment:

You fool seem to forget that he was given the fight in short notice, Malignaggi was suposed to fight somebody else prior to Cano, that fight fell through so I would cut him some slag for that, but Rios, Broner and Morales....have no excuse.i already stated the significance of him coming in heavy.
and i didn't take your words literally at all. rather, i took exception to an implication, ie. that Cano is somehow the rightful holder of the WBA title. even had he knocked Malignaggi out cold, it wouldn't have counted a wit as far as that title was concerned and nor should it have.
in your opinion he beat Paulie. this thread is about him chasing a title shot and his worthiness thereof.Leave a comment:

You're taking my words waaaay too literally, he's obviously not the WBA 147 champ.you seem to have forgotten your exact words,
"Its ok, you're already the 147 WBA champ"
the particular argument we're engaged in isn't about whether Paulie's title should have been left up for him to lose after Cano missed weight, but rather this notion that Cano deserves championship credit for having arguably beaten Malignaggi after coming in heavy.
i'm not sure how relevant it is that Malignaggi was heavily favoured to win, but i wasn't one of the guys who thought he would get an easy night with Cano's mix of style and attributes. i'd seen Cano give a good account of himself against a far better fighter in Morales (even as far past his prime as he is, his skill-base exceeds Malignaggi's) and was mildly impressed with the kid. more relevant than his being "fat" (Juan Diaz, a fighter with excellent stamina, used to box with a fold of bodyfat spilling over his trunks and was highly effective doing so), young Cano (a 140lb campaigner) hadn't had to expend the same energy to make the limit that his physically matured opponent had. slow? that's a deceptive argument and pure speed isn't the be-all and end-all. using what you have effectively is more important. many quick men do not know how to harness their speed to maximum effect (Judah, for example).
Yea he weighed .5 pounds over, so? Im not making a literal case for him being crowned the WBA champ. Point is he beat PaulieLeave a comment:
