    The guy is only willing to kill himself to make 154 for a payday, and nothing more. Even when they half heartedly talked about Cotto, 157 was mentioned. Its totally OK to accept that he can't make that weight anymore. But I guess people have to hold onto something or some glimmer of hope to use against a fighter that people love to hate
    Why would you expect The MW champ to fight below 157? He's already weighed in below 158 several times, at least one time voluntarily. No kidding he doesn't want to sweat down to 154 if it's not worthwhile to him. Floyd is a far bigger fight than Canelo or Cotto, both in p4p and money sense.

      I wonder how fans would react if other fighters said he has to fight me at 147lb but for x I'd move up to 154lb. I don't think Martinez is ducking Canelo because it is quite clear that he'd beat the breaks off of him but the implications of his words are not lost on me.

            Moving down (or up) in weight to fight someone is a concession. He's willing to make that concession for higher rated p4p, bigger star, but not for a much lower rated unproven guy, who'll probably have to move to 160 soon anyway.

              Lol I don't expect Sergio to fight lower than MW anymore, period(which is what i just said earlier and was very clear when i said it). I don't think he can make the weight comfortbly.

                So Ward is rated #2 and proven. But he totally gets a pass for being to small for Ward. So really, its about Sergio cashing out at 38.

                  People dont understand negotiating power in boxing. Why would a MW champ move down to fight a paper champ? Why would Sergio concede to Canelo?

                    After all that u gotta love Lewkowicz finishing up with some sound advice;
                    "However, based on my many years as matchmaker - I would advise Canelo to seriously worry about his next fight."

                      That does not matter assuming Canelo gets past Trout, Canelo would then be Martinez's gateway into a Mayweather fight, it doesn't get any better than that for Sergio. The public, media will call for it, instigate it, pretty much name it. Haven't been content with some of Martinez's recent opponents, but that division is poor and as I said, I don't think he can be healthy at 154 so...
