As Nacho Beristain says, Sergio could beat Canelo, Chavez Jr, and Jose Sulaiman on the one night

See real good reasons in Rumack's post. Also, he feels like he's the challenger in p4p stakes vs Floyd. Nowhere near with Canelo, who really shouldn't be making any p4p lists even if he beats Trout.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he'd have a hard time making 154. But he's his own man, a real good champ, gets to make his own decisions. I don't think it's as bad as Ward Dawson. For one Ward started out at 168, is not maxing out there like Floyd. Also, Dawson moved up young, is a big LHW and wasn't proven effective at 168. Sergio moved up old only cause it was the best fight he could find. He's not a real big middle, weighted in below 158 for both PWill 2 (CW) and Macklin.

Which is why I'm saying this is proof that Martinez can no longer be a healthy 154 anymore.
It doesn't really complicate things though, it gets the ball rolling more than anything else. This isn't a hardline position in the midst of negotiations, this a public statement to get people talking about the idea of a Canelo-Sergio fight.

If Canelo's people are asked about it and they say 'well we would want to do it at 154', it's easy for Sergio's people to then say 'ok, you know what, we'll do it at a catchweight or at 154 if it means the fight will happen'.

If Canelo's team come up with another excuse then the world sees that they are ducking. It's a much better approach than laying all your cards on the table at once.

Makes sense, I see where your going with this, I'd rather they not do this though, I would have been vocal about being perfectly fine with facing Canelo at 154, that way Martinez is more within their radar as oppose to farther away.

Trout is by far the best fighter Canelo has ever faced (hes one of the few who is even a legit natural super welter) and all canelo can talk about is what is happening end of the year and 2014.

Making demands from mayweather, now hitting up sergio and talking 160. Dude has fought a bunch of blown up super light weights, just moved his fight with Trout up a few weeks earlier...

I expect Trout to win with him getting shafted on the cards.

Face it, Sergio calls the shots now....he and Floyd run the sport now and after Guerrero wins, it's just Sergio atop the mountain.

Peoplee making excuses for Martinez. The guy can't make 154 anymore, period. He hasn't fought lower than 157 when he Kod Paul Williams. Even during that, he forget that he complained about facing Williams at a lower weight.

The guy is only willing to kill himself to make 154 for a payday, and nothing more. Even when they half heartedly talked about Cotto, 157 was mentioned. Its totally OK to accept that he can't make that weight anymore. But I guess people have to hold onto something or some glimmer of hope to use against a fighter that people love to hate

So wait.......people think Sergio is serious about fighting at 154 lbs again???

Why only Floyd at 154, no one else???

Martinez is a Pawn to Canelo? lolololol he'll trash Canelo if Trout doesn't first.
And he would go to 154 to fight Floyd simply because he thinks Mayweather has the top spot other then him, and a Massive Payday and win to have nearing end of a career

This fight would be huge. Martinez vs Canelo will bring in sick PPv buys. More than Manny JMM 5 and surely more than Floyd vs who cares!
Plus it would be a insane fight to watch. I hope these two square off!
