Plenty and many fighters have signed to fight a bigger fight while training and getting ready for the current fight. some fighters have even mentioned it adds motivation. This is a ploy by Canelo to try and front like he doesn't want to fight Mayweather, but we all know better. I expect more whining to come out of Canelo's camp that refers to a fight with Mayweather or lack there of. If Mayweather and Canelo win their next fight, we will see Mayweather Vs Canelo in September. So Canelo is right about being on PPV in September if he beats Trout.


Canelo should be ashamed to mention Cotto or Angulo for the possibilities of his next opponent. Cotto lost his last 2 fights, and Angulo lost to Kirkland-BE SERIOUS. P.S, the word guarantee in Canelo's statement about fighting Mayweather means win loose or draw, otherwise he wouldn't be asking for a guarantee.

Funny that you say he should be ashamed about bringing up Cotto. He is only one fight from the Trout fight and two fights removed from the Mayweather fights. So Trout gets 100% props for fighting what you're now saying is a low class opponent? Remember one thing this is also about making money. Suckas like you always excuse Floyd when he changes, squirms and plays around and chooses a lesser fighter because the money was better. Canelo fighting a PR (most famous at that) on Mexican Independace day is a great way to sell tickets. Fighting another hard hitting Mexican like Angulo makes $$$ sense. Canelo is the next big PPV star. Just like his mentor DLH. He has a country of hard core Boxing Fans behind him and he is or has created a buzz in the Boxing word. Especially now that the rumor going around in the public media that Floyd Ducked him.
Personally myself, do not think that by not signing the contact was a form of ducking, more so than a smart business decision that made sense. Although it did create the negative buzz now being that most people think Floyd ducked Manny for years.
With that said. Floyd will never fight Canelo anyhow. If he did or didnt, is or isnt ducking him. Hes to big and to strong. To dangerous this late stage in Floyds "cashing out" career. Just expect lame boring ass fights from Floyd with no meaning on his way out of Boxing and let the new stars arise like Canelo and others!

I can't understand why people are dismissing it being Cotto out of hand. Mexico - Puerto Rico on that date is massive, and IMO it's a less risky fight for Canelo than Angulo.

less risky to fight cotto? thats ridiculous... Angulo has looked horrible... and even though Cotto lost his last 2, they were extremely competitive fights....
i doubt Canelo gets by Trout anyway.
