Then Lewis should just have retired, instead of promising a rematch. He is not a man of his word, but merely a coward.

      This.

Vitali is a great fighter, don't get me wrong; he's just not on the same level as Lennox.

      Lewis>Vitali

what legacy? his resume is poop in a trash can. he's never beaten the best guy in the division. he's known for being the 2nd best guy in a very poor division. hes known for quitting. where is the greatness? beating corrie sanders, sam peter, tomas adamek, and a slew of fat slobs?

His greatness lies in his domination, especially considering his comeback after the long layoff. Plus he had a lot of unfulfilled potential. And he's a naturally born fighter, and a great one. Few would argue that prime Vitali was an absolute beast.

ok and so did eric crumble. his resume still stinks to high heaven. potential doesn't=greatness, actually doing great things=greatness

                Pretty much exactly this.
All Vitali fans always say "would have" and "could have" and "if" that had not happened.

It's pointless discussing what could have been, we only know what was and that is Vitali hasn't beaten anyone significant ever. That's the sad truth.

                  Vitali's legacy:

He's a great fighter; it's just a shame he was ruled out for so long with injuries. His resume isn't great, but, then again, the HW division was hardly loaded with credible opposition upon his return.

I'm trolling a bit with the Byrd photo. Vitali was MILES ahead in the fight.

I believe Vitali was at his prime against Adamek and may still have some thimgs to show before retiring. vitali's legacy relies on his boxing skills and on his charisma. He ( and also his brother btw) gave boxing its true meaning of a " gentlemen's sport" or how we say in french " le noble art" after great fighters such as Tyson unfortunately damaged the image of the sport.
