Thompson was always a good fighter, some people just automatically label guys bums when one of the Klitschko's KO's them, not true and it was proved last week. Pianeta is a good match up given it's just a warm up for Povetkin. 6'5, south paw, unbeaten and ranked.

Agreed, though in many ways i think he's better preparation for someone like Fury, with Fury's ability to switch stance, he's certainly dangerous.I also am encouraged by the fact Wlad has taken on the behemoth Wach,a6 5 Thonpson and now a 6 5 Pianeta, all the opposition from this point forth seem to be giants Helenius,Fury as well as Pulev who isn't short by any means,I would have included Price in there but it appears he has zero punch resistance after an over the hill Thonpson finished him,and the way Skelton roughedled his feathers.I don't see a big future for the big guy from the United Kingdom

Here is the problem. It's important to read between the lines on what this article is saying.

Poverkin's people are trying to FORCE the WBA into stripping Wlad and making Alexander the Full-time WBA Champ. Not because they want to fight Wlad so badly all of a sudden, and can't wait for him to make a voluntary defense. They don't wanna fight this badly, they want him stripped of the Title. And their past history suggests it.

It's not impossible. All anyone has to do is have the confidence that they can BEAT either of the Klitschko's. If you are, you agree to their terms (whether it's low pay or high pay or medium), become the World Champion and now you can dictate the terms.

That's just pure opinion. On record, Pianeta is a prime opponent who has yet to be defeated.

            even Wilder
I like Wilder. But is he chomping at the bits to get a Title shot right now? I highly doubt it. His management is yet contemplating whether to have him face Top 20 opposition, yet alone the Klitschko's.

would be better than this joke. The situation with Povetkin is ridiculous. There needs to be more done to stop TV power. If it isnt organisations such as WBA agreeing ****** voluntary defenses, its promoters and TV contracts stopping the fights people actually want to see
As the Champion and someone who constantly makes mandatory defenses, you should have the lead way to not be bossed around by a Paper Champion, who wants to face you right now and is trying to get you stripped of the Title for not complying. Povetkin backed out of a Wlad fight twice. And now he will wait till Wlad is good and ready.

Pianeta is a crap fight. I have never heard the guys name and I watch a lot of HW boxing. I doubt you had. He's not ranked with any organization and has never fought any note worthy opposition. fres oquendo would have been a far better choice. There's no two ways about that. However, the talent pool and who's available is not exactly deep.
I disagree with this. I think Buster Doublas would've fit right in with the stereotype of fat, lazy heavyweights who come in out of shape one fight, and are in the "best shape of their life", in the next fight.

His skills are comparable to that of Kirk Johnson (fat, harpooned whale), Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson. No reason to make him out to be any better just because he handled Tyson.

If he is waiting for fights with the more recognised guys I'd rather him fight undefeated fighters than old rehashed challengers like oquendo. If he fights povetkin then pulev after this then I think we can say 2013 will have been a productive year
And that's that's what it's all about. Remember, the consensus by the snobs is that this is the worst era ever, blah. Besides Povetkin and Haye, there is no built up guys.

Therefore the priority should be activity and he should diversify his portfolio. Fight a old, has-been in Austria, then take a trip to German and kick some prime-undefeated ass. Then fly over to the United States and put a beat down on someone like Arreola in front of his hometown fans.

MIX IT UP. It's about numbers and title defenses, not NAMES. People are already ****ting on his entire title run and the names on it. Just focus on statistics, not opinion. The guy who is about to fight is in his 20's, undefeated, and almost as Tall as he is. That's a fact.
