    either...

These guys are only 22 and 23 years old. They haven't even reached their full physical capabilities let along fully developed their skills. Boxers have a about a 15 year window (if they're lucky) to earn as much money as they can. Most of us have careers that allow us to earn for 40 years or more.

With that said, why WOULD you be in a rush at 22/23 to fight top guys and likely have your career peak prematurely and hurt your earning potential?

Forget the fact that this is a business, this is also these guys lives and the decisions they make can impact them for the rest of their lives.

As fans, it sucks. I want to see the best fights. But realistically speaking, I can understand why these guys are "protected".

I will say I think Broner has balanced it much better. Fighting PDL was risky. Fighting DeMarco his first fight at 135 was also risky. Not sure if Canelo has had a truly risky fight yet.

There aren't enough "bums" in boxing to avoid real threats for another couple years or so. At some point a "bum" will give them a tough fight or beat them. That would not be a good look for them moving forward.

De La Hoya, Tyson and Pacquiao had losses and still became two of the biggest PPV megastars the sport has ever seen.

At some point you have to take risks to get to the next level. Canelo is young by age, but has also been a Pro since he was 15-16 yrs old. Mike Tyson himself was the youngest Heavyweight champion and was KO'ing all the title holders. I think more than age it's experience. The truth is both Broner and Canelo physically aren't going to become Super Athletes from now till their 30 more than being smarter in the ring which comes with experience against the best. Canelo I believe is at a higher point of getting the big fights than Broner is right now, but age wise they're right there. Some guys just take a little longer, some are ready to go and I think both of them are at that point or on the brink.

One question though. If they don't fight the "top guys" who would get title shots?

Broner's competition is already better than Alvarez's, with half the fights. Don't insult him by comparing him to Alvarez.

Alvarez has 40 pro fights. His fraud ass needs to step up and prove he isn't a fraud, now.

When you have a belt around your waist you're SUPPOSED to fight the top guys. Stop making excuses.
