Comments Thread For: Josesito Lopez Prefers Maidana Clash Over Amir Khan

While it hasn’t been made official, sources say Josesito Lopez and Marcos Maidana will square off April 20th, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, in a fight that is sure to be a war. Both Lopez and Maidana are known for their warrior spirits and for putting on great fights for the fans.

BoxingScene caught up with Josesito Lopez who has been trying to find an opponent the last few weeks. There were talks of a fight with Amir Khan but with Khan announcing he will be fighting in the UK for his next bout against Julio Diaz on April 27, Maidana seems like the likely candidate. And that’s actually okay for Lopez who says he prefers to fight Maidana over Khan. [Click Here To Read More]

Lopez gets brought in like a victim. I hope he does well in his next fight but Maidana is one tough dude

Looking at this fight easy work for josesito Lopez... Maidana is in the middle of turning into a boxer/puncher... His last fight he tried to establish his jab and looked vulnerable....

Love Josesito, but I think Chino will be way too much for him.

I thought it was a close fight between him and Vargas. Too close to argue. This will be a war but think Maidana will come out victorious. Damn Rios vs Alvarado now this

when he gets clocked on the chin he's going to revert back to being a gunfighter. he might have refined some stuff under garcia that will show up in a war, but he's not going to overhaul his style at this age. if lopez is in the fight and landing punches then maidana will almost certainly stop boxing.

this will turn into a gunfight. both guys are too available to be hit. chino has some unappreciated subtleties, and lopez was an underrated offensive fighter at 140 lbs. chino will be too big and strong, especially if they fight at welterweight, where maidana looks more natural now than he did against alexander.

lopez has faster hands and better defense than soto karass, but he's a good measure smaller. i think there will be a give and take of punches early on, but that maidana's power will be the difference in the fight down the stretch, especially if josesito can't get in a smaller fight to get on a winning streak.

I'd have prefer Khan myself cause he ain't beating Maidana.
