He has 22 fights and made his name in his home country. Of course he has a padded resume, but that doesn't mean he can't beat Paulie. He's another Argentine looking to make a splash, and this would be his first step-up in competition. He's the mandatory and hopefully he gets the fight.

Cano was a guy with a padded record too

This. It would not be the first time that happened either. He looks to fit the MO of a hard hitting Argentine mule puncher too, ala Chino, Lucas...

There are some differences though. Chaves has been hurt and dropped in some of his fights, and that makes me think that his chin isn't that good. While Maidana and Lucas have always shown good chins. But, Paulie can't punch, so, it's actually perfect for a guy like Chaves to win.

If Chaves had left Argentina to train somewhere else I think he could've been a really good fighter. But right now he has plenty of holes in his game.

Golden Boy has no idea what to do with Paulie.

I agree. The Paulie that fought Senchenko will easily beat Chaves, the Paulie that showed up against Cano might win but has a good chance of losing to Chaves.

Cano has fought some decent fighters. He took the fight with Morales on a weeks notice and was doing well in that fight but his face just didn't hold up. He stopped the vet Monterosa in a good fight and beat a undefeated propesct Perez. He was robbed against Paulie IMO and Cano is improving as a fighter with every fight. And he's only 23 I think.

                      This right here:

"If I'm going to do Malignaggi-Maidana, I wouldn't want to take the risk at the Barclays Center," Schaefer said. "I'm probably going to do a fight for Paulie (April 27), but I don't see many other headline fights for him at Barclays. Do I think Malignaggi-Maidana is a good fight? I do, but I am not sure that's the main event at the Barclays Center, a big, big arena. I don't want to put that fight in a huge venue.

"Right now, I have been thrown a bit of a curveball with this (Malignaggi-Mosley) fight situation, but we will move on. We will have an event on April 27 on Showtime and we are coming up with the right card, but it won't necessarily be at Barclays Center. My first choice is Lucas Matthysse against Marcos Maidana, assuming Matthysse wins on Saturday, from the West Coast."

Schaefer said there are several possibilities, but it will come down to money.

"A fight between Andre Berto and Paulie Malignaggi would be of interest to the networks and fans," he said. "A fight between Maidana and Matthysse is of interest. A fight between Malignaggi and Maidana is of interest. Now there are different amounts of license fees being paid for these fights, so I will go to Malignaggi, to Maidana, to Berto, to Matthysse, and I will tell them what the different purses they can make and we'll go from there."
