Guerrero is a versatile fighter and has a chance at an upset here....

things Guerrero can do that Cotto cant anymore...

    Throw with volume...

Floyd was able to throw more punches than Cotto in their fight.... I truly believe volume is a key to beating Floyd... if you throw enough punches from different angles i think the shell will eventually crack (think Paul Williams, Margarito).... i dont expect to see robert throwing 90 per round.... but i would like to see him get into the 70's and 80's per round to really pressure Floyd....

Castillo was throwing punches from all angles... he was really successful with floyd on the ropes... it wasnt speed either, just a constant continuous attack

Cotto was throwing what seemed to be planned combinations and then he would reset... its got to be free flowing and continuous.... VOLUME

I actually think Guerrero fighting left handed hurts him. The straight right hand of Floyd's will be landing all night straight on his face. It takes a good jab to beat Floyd a strong consistent good jab. Oscar did it for a few rounds and was successful. Cotto had his best success when he worked off the jab and then cornered Floyd unfortunately for Robert he's not that great of a jabber.

It's pressure coming from behind the jab, the footwork to keep the ring small, and the physical strength when Floyd tries to barge out from the corner you're backing him into.

Cotto was right to throw precise combinations instead of just throwing like a madman. Throw wild and Floyd will roll most of them, you have to go up and down the body instead. Most guys get over-excited when they have Floyd pinned and tire themselves out without landing anything clean. When they try to reset Floyd kicks into action and uses the space they give him to nail them with uppercuts, and as they back out he lands one or two more eye-catching shots that seal the exchange for him in the judges' eyes.

Cotto didn't fall into that trap. He did the damage and then slid out of there as smoothly as Pedro Diaz could get him to. He was disciplined as hell and that was the key. Lots of people were complaining about him not throwing more shots when he had Floyd on the ropes, but no one since Castillo (and maybe not even him) tagged Floyd so cleanly so many times, so I think it's fair to say Cotto and Diaz were onto something.

It is about pressure but it's about using the jab and your footwork to bring the fight down a dark alley where you can win it. Not exchanging in open country where you haven't a hope in hell.

i laugh at the people who think it will be a one sided Floyd Fight. Lets look at what Floyd is use to in his last 6 years of 7 fights. Vs Guererros 14 fights in 6 years.
Things Guererro wont do that Floyd is use to:
Wont stand there and wait on Floyd.
                Wont gas out.
                Wont get sucker punched.
Guererro will Do what his last most recent did not:
                Will Exchange.
                Will Counter.
Will Throw more than any of his last 6
                Will Be more active
                Will be Aggressive
                Will have more Heart

going to be a great fight. I cant wait to watch!

the way the Ghost is talking and acting is reminding me of tarver when he was fighting roy. he's been calling floyd out. doesn't show him too much respect like ortiz and others have. he's definitly coming to win.

Floyd doesn't throw alot of punches so how do you think floyd threw more shots than Cotto. For one he would tied Cotto up. That's one way to slow down a volume puncher's workrate. Then out of the clinch you can get your punches off the other guy can't throw punches if you got his hands tied up. Plus floyd having great defense on top of that. It's not all about speed which Mayweather has but he's a smart fighter alot of fighter's don't think about little stuff like that which can help them win a round. Also Mayweather was fighting off of the ropes against Cotto to take away Cotto's left hook you didn't see cotto land his left hook really during the fight. So since floyd was countering off the ropes the only punches cotto could consistently land is a Jab, and ring hook to the body that's really the only punches he could land because it was floyds strategy to take away the left hook mainly because that seems to be Cotto's most dangerous punch cotto used to Ko people with the left hook. That's how floyd fights he tries to figure out your best or one of your best punches and how he can take that away he takes it away with his defense, or whether moving, or coming back with a shart counter. It just depends on the fighter and the fight every fighter is different. One fighter might have everything but can't fight that well moving backwards so it's just common sense to do things to try to get the guy to move backwards then keep preeure on him while getting your punches off cause that would make the fight easier for you. There is no reason in moving all around the ring that way the guy can come forward and the guy might fight better coming forward. So it's all about what makes the fight easier for you. Floyd was walking zab down and floyd was in his 20's during that fight so it's not cause Mayweather is geting older that he's fighting that way and not moving as much it just depends on who he's fighting and what would make the fight easier in my opinion. Why move all around the ring if you don't have to.
