I think your idea is valid. Floyd's father stresses the jab when it comes to punching. Floyd was untouchable in his hardest fights in recent years DLH and Cotto whenever he kept his jab working.

The jab creates distance and keeps the fight at Floyd's greatest range on the outside.

I think he was being more offensive to please the fans but maybe its just not working for him as much as it used to. At this age he needs to be even more efficient and i think his dad is the best at helping him do it.

Whether it's because Roger and his illnesses or not, I think this is a good change for Jr. Floyd's getting old and his dad is going to provide him with the review of skills that will fit his aging body to deal with the youngins.
