Comments Thread For: Richard Abril: After Bogere, I Want Broner or Rios Next

Cuba's Richard Abril (17-3-1, 8KOs) is putting the finishing touches on his training camp for the March 2nd clash with Sharif Bogere (23-0, 15KOs), for the vacant WBA lightweight championship. The fight will be televised on Showtime from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

"I'm almost at the peak of my training. The work that I've done in he last few months has been good, including good sparring with Yoandris Salinas, Luis Franco, Emmanuel De La Rosa, among others. In short, the work has been very good thanks to God," Abril said.

I thought Abril won against Rios by a wide margin, but I don't like his chances if there's a rematch. Broner-Abril doesn't sound great at first but I think it could be a really interesting fight, Abril would test Broner's boxing IQ and we could all get a better look at Abril. I like his style, really cerebral.... hope he gets some more exposure soon, he deserves it.

Not sure Abril can carry his skill up to 135 or 140 against Rios.

I would love to see Broner vs Abril. I highly doubt it will happen though.

I don't want to see Abril against anyone at this point. The guy's style makes for a boring fight every time.

He fought Rios at 135 the first time. He's also fairly tall and lanky, so 140 would probably be more comfortable anyway.
