why is it about american fighters who are black? overall the i do think its ass backwards becuase the loud outspoken boxers tends to be hated which makes no damn sense ward should be a star right now...

i bet you if ward was PR mexican or even britiish he would have a huge fanbase

now broner ... exciting and a lot of pereonality.

trout is just a good boxer. not a good sales pitch.
these dudes were stars yes but not praised like fighters from other countries...those are stars!

Well the division is loaded so there is a decent chance. Why not. A big win could sustain him for a long time, a lot of people came to like a guy like Winky Wright who had a "boring" style but still made good fights and brought up the level of the division overall.

Winky did do a good job of self promotion during that time, he'd show up all types of places and was just a real guy..IDK if Trout has that kind of time since he seems more laid back but people will begin to know him if this fight is really competitive. There really are people out there who appreciate boxer-types who can stay at the top level consistently...if he does turn out to be that good, hardcore fans will know most of the fights against other top names will be legit. Winky brought that to every fight and he won some of them. He might have a chance but it takes time, for now people will show up to watch him against good opponents.

Austin Trout will never become a bigger star than the Punisher. For the same reasons too. Because they pose a real threat to all the superstars around their division. So for that, they will be hated instead of loved by fans.

It's almost weird nowadays for a fighter like Trout to be the traveling teacher going from home town to home town handing out lessons to the hometown stars along the way. Fight fans hate that now. They like the superstar circle jerk.

A poster mentioned Mosley as an example. IMO Mosley was never a star he was a highly respected fighter but Mosley at his fame height could walk down the street and 90% of the people wouldn't know who the hell Mosley was.

Can someone define for me what exactly is a crowd-pleasing style. That doesn't exsist to me cause everybody in the crowd isn't pleased by the same style.

I think Trout can grow and have nice respected name in the sport and grow to be recognized by people when he is out and about around the usa. IMO Trout can fall under B-Hop by a nice distance but above fighters like Tarver and Mosley.

A good fighter but boring as hell, so no. He shares a lot with Bradley in that regard.

Trout is a good boxer but really does nothing special and doesn't have the KO power to be a star imo.

Floyd isn't really a KO artist either

Trout would fight anyone anywhere. When he couldn't get fights at home, he went to their backyards. The amount the guy does for charity, he can win the hearts and minds of certain fans of the sport. If he keeps upsetting everybody, itll get him exposure. Everyone loves an underdog.

Bare in mind, if he wins against Canelo, he's possibly a Mayweather opponent. Even if he loses there, he'll be well known

He could be become very well known. Possibly in the Ward bracket. But like some have said it depends on who is behind him. I don't think he has that wow factor and unless someone (Al Haymon) comes up with a new way to promote him; I guess he'll fall just short of that "superstar" bracket.

That said if he continues to fight the best dudes and in their backgardens, he could garner some respect and publicity similar to a Carl Froch.

Who knows. Long as he keeps fighting the best and winning, he's got a great shot.

Really looking forward to him against Canelo.
