The New York Daily News has reported that HBO Sports has dumped Roy Jones Jr. as a boxing analyst. The axe came down on Wednesday as Ross Greenburg of HBO called Jones with the news. Jones was brought in on a full-time basis in 2004 to replace George Foreman. Emanuel Steward is going to fill in for Jones until a replacement is hired. [details]

Can't say I'm heartbroken over this one. He was supposed to fill George's shoes as a color commentator, and he just doesn't have the personality for it.Comment

My prediction was right once again. Roy Jones Jr. was only at HBO because of his star power, but now He just brings the company a bad name. Good fcking riddance!Comment

Jones' comments were always more on the money than Lampley the Cheerleader, or the Gin soaked Merchant.
Too bad, but Roy didn't seem to have the time anyway.
I think Hopkins would make a good replacement. He's colorful and opinionated.Comment

they make roys life hardwork with constant one upmanship.
unfortunately roy has more skill than the other hbo commentating crew.
and yeah, he is a bit dull in his commentary, should take a lesser roleComment
