And people know who Montiel and Darchinyan are? The same people that know those guys know Rigo. Outside of Manny and Floyd, the average person doesn't know another boxer's name. Casuals know a few more fighters, but the guys we're talking about are in the domain of the hardcore.

You're telling us you follow every division? Something tells me you have a special interest in the divisions of certain Pinoy fighters. And that's fine. Just don't be hypocritical about it.

Donaire has never fought anyone this technically skilled - Rigondeaux's power lies in his accuracy of those straight shots to the sweet part of the chin....Rigondeaux's chin does get me slightly doubtful but i still think that he will be so focused in there that he upsets Donaire. Hopefully this happens @ Barclays or maybe MSG's theater. Very excited for this...

This is a great fight between 2 great fighters. One has a far better pro resume but the other is an exceptional boxer. We are lucky to get this fight and Donair has a lot of guts for taking it. I know if I were in his position I would have avoided this fight. This is a make or break fight for both fighters.

To some extend. Not so much for Donaire. He got the fan base and promotional company behind him. Rigo is 32 years old and almost no fanbase. If he loses here he will most likely continue fighting (with not as much hype) till his contract is up and that might be the end for him.

Yes, I keep an eye on every single division. Some of them are crap like the heavyweights but I at least try to know who the top guys are at each weight.

I do follow Filipino fighters of course but that doesn't mean that I don't follow the rest of the sport. It's not like I'm just a Pacquiao fan and that's all I know about the sport.

I don't know if Rigondeaux could go to 126 and be successful, I've heard others say he's too small, but as long as he doesn't sh** the bed against Donaire, I think he could recover and win some fights there. He'll probably gain fans in this Donaire fight even if he loses, again as long as he isn't awful. So hopefully this won't just be the end for him if he loses.

                      Few people have.

I agree with much of what you're saying. I give Donaire the edge in this match-up, but an upset wouldn't surprise me in the least. I, too, suspect that Rigo will bring his "A-Game" to this fight. Very often, Guillermo likes to toy with his opponents, a tendency that has backfired more than once. If he remains focused, he's going to be tough to catch clean.

Rigo's power seems to be overlooked quite a bit around here, in favor of focusing on his suspect chin. Nonito's offense will be affected by the fact that he doesn't want to get snagged himself. Guille is heavy handed and accurate, as you point out. He digs to the body and goes to the head with equal precision and effect.

This is going to be a good fight.
