Great Idea.
I just filed my application for my managerial license for California. Already pick up some young fighters. I just haven't had the time to devote to the fight game, but I wish you well.
The only problems to a successful show are the "paperwork" and "upfront money" so that you can secure the fighters and the venue. You also need to promote/advertise the event.
If you can pull that off, I suggest you also start a new boxing sanctioning body, such as "World Boxing International" (WBI). That way, you can hold championship bouts without having to pay the sanctioning fees to the other organizations. You also don't have to play the rating game and get your fighters ranked so they qualify for the championship bout.
The key is to create stars by showcasing up-and-coming fighters. Just be sure to get long-term, exclusive contracts with those fighters so that they don't run off on you once they get to the big time.
Remember, boxing is top heavy. All of the money circulates around the big time fighters. As such, the only way a fighter makes a name for himself today is by appearing on the under cards of those big fights.
You can't play that game because promoters will steal your fighters and feed them to their fighters before your fighters were ready for the big time.
To make it to where you want to go, you have to control (and protect) your own fighters. There are a lot of guys who could make it in boxing if they have the proper guidance. You can make it if you take care of you fighters.Comment
