Boxers only retire if they have enough money, have career ending injuries, too lazy or undisciplined, or have regressed so far that they take serious harm when they fight. This is their life's work, their office is the camp and ring, they are in husinessmen selling the only real money-making thing they have.....blood and guts.
Sports physicians and brain specialists have decided that fighters who have fought more than 380 rounds, are all in serious chance of life changing brain damage.Last edited by edgarg; 02-11-2013, 12:11 AM.Comment

I understand what you are implying, but what is your
point?
Remember Pacquiao vs Margarito? Chavez Jr vs Martinez?
Significant weight differences, assuming Chavez had
10 or more pounds on Martinez fight night.
His solid wins before beating Pacquiao, as stated Diaz,
Kats, Casa, did not seem to interfere much with knocking
out Pacquiao cold, did it? Before being knocked out cold
Pacquiao's last couple of solid wins included Shane Mosley,
Margarito, Clottey, De la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and my man
Cotto himself. The prospect of Marquez beating Pacquaio,
yet alone FINISHING the fight, according too many, was
not so rosy. Now, the point I am trying to get across,
your record and people on your record do not matter on
fight night buddy boy.Comment

Exactly, records don't matter fight night, so JMM's success vs Pac doesn't come into play vs a lot bigger Cotto. It's Pac that's showed the ability to beat legit guys significantly bigger than him, it doesn't just rub off on JMM.I understand what you are implying, but what is your
point?

I'm guessing Marquez is just trying to price himself up but saying he wont fight Pacquiao. Personally I want him to retire. I love him and everything, but he's done enough and should enjoy his money and family. But there is a lot of fights I'd love to see him in, but for some reason I don't see Marquez taking some huge fight if it aint Pacquiao. Rios, Broner, and Bradley would be great. I'd give my left nut to see him fight Mattysse, but I don't see it. If he fights a real challenger, I'll support him, but I just don't see it for some reason.Comment
