Comments Thread For: Banks' Trainer: Johnathon Beats Adamek Easy in Rematch

Trainer James Ali Bashir, who works with heavyweight Johnathon Banks (29-1-1, 19KOs), says his boxer will easily defeat Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29KOs) in a rematch.

Banks is now a player at heavyweight after an unexpected two-round TKO of previously undefeated Seth Mitchell in November. They were going to have a rematch on February 16th, but Banks withdrew with a thumb injury.

The fight Banks really wants is a rematch with Adamek. The only loss on Banks' record was to Adamek, by way of an eight round TKO in 2009. Their match took place at cruiserweight.

actually had chambers winning 115-113 with one hand. adamek coul barely touch him & made a few late rallys in rounds but chambers was bobbing & weaving & cracking him steady with the right. he never threw a left after the 4th round i believe but still was landing clean shots...

          Adamek is easy pickings now.

Since the Vitali fight he has looked sluggish at HW.

I thought so too. A two handed Chambers would have won

Adamek definitely looks to be on the downward slide, although if I was Banks' trainer, I wouldn't be broadcasting that if you want to score the rematch.

I think Jonathan would beat the fading Adamek now.

Right. I understand that Banks would love to beat the man who beat him but whats it worth if the guy is not the same anymore? But Banks would beat Adamek now. I think hes wiser and better today, Adamek on the other hand is on decline. And Banks fits better into heavyweight than Adamek. The Banks/Mitchell 2 will be recheduled and if Banks wins again i would like to see him fight Adamek or another "prospect" like Jennings or Wilder. But to be honest i hope Mitchell can beat Banks in the rematch and see improvements from Mitchell. Mitchell is a cool humble dude and hes exciting, i wish him all the best.
Banks is more like a lazy unmotivated guy. I think hes one of these guys who would not come out of the corner if he realizes he cant do something. Mitchell is different. Hes a guy always trying but its a shame he cant take a punch. he needs an great defense with that chin he has. You can improve everything but you cant improve your chin. So its a major weakness. With an iron chin Mitchell could be verry successfull.

Didn't you guys learn from the Cunningham rematch? No one beats Adamek in a rematch... ESPECIALLY in Jersey... No one.
