It depends if the kick boxer has a punch or not, or he has better kicks. Because Holland does not have a big boxing tradition, it is the other way around here. A lot of amateur boxers switch to kick boxing because in kick boxing one can make some money.
I believe IBF featherweight champ Troy Dorsey and the dutch contender Eddie Smulders were also kick boxers before turning to professional boxing.
Actually Dorsey was at the same time kick boxing and boxing professional and was world champ in both...he fought kalid rahilou who also was was world champ in both at some point.
These guys are really skilled to be able to switch from 1 discipline to the other one depending on the upcoming figth!
I dont know honeslty, but to diverge a lil from the thread. I watched Williams/Klitschko last night for the 5th time and I just can't get it why ppl hate this guy so much. He is very exciting is very heavy handed. STAMINA IS NOT AN ISSUE. I did my own punch stats and in his last two fights vitaly averages 69 approx punches/rd and has about a 52% connect rate!!!!! HOW IS THIS STAMINA ISSUE. Also, he imeediatley begins to breath out of his mmouth from the opening bell, ****** because if he gets caught his jaw can be broken, but his stamina is fine. Plus he has the Highest KO rate of any of the heavies. I know alot of ppl say that in in shape lennox lewis would have schooled Klitschko, but I disagree, if Lewis fought his normal from the outside "safe" fight Klitschko would dominatr\e that fight IMHO. Lennox (I think) knew this and chose to brawl because he knew (or at least thought) he was like his lil bro and didnt like being pressured. I think If they rematch Lennox would choose his old style and Klitschko fights from the outside and dominates. Any way I would like some ppl to upload any of his Kickboxing fights.

the first round against sanders he was very close to being knocked down, and was badly stunned too
A lot of boxers get stunned in the ring - it's the natural effect of the other guy trying to kick the crap out of you. The fact that it didn't have any effect on the rest of the fight whatsoever makes the difference. Klichko was also stunned in the LL fight after that unbelievable uppercut and still went forward. I think Klichko's stamina is hugely underrated as well as his chin.
