will VK's success bring more kickboxers to boxing? your thoughts..

we all see VK's weird, yet effective style. Many have attributed these characteristics to his successful kickboxing career. There is obviously much more money and fame in boxing. Should we expect to see more boxers coming from that background in the future? Name some other boxers with that background as well. your thoughts..
why would it be good / bad?

Matt Skelton used to be a K1 fighter, and is now commonwealth and British champion. He had no amateur career at all.

K1 is gaining fan support as is UFC. They are not currently at the level of boxing, but it is good that top fighters fight eachother more often than in boxing. As a result you don't see fighters that are 30-0 like you do in boxing.

Once the fighting mentality is there, you can be sucessful in any of the sports once you get your technique down.

I think taht if VK stuck with kickboxing, be would be very good at it, but definately not 42-2 or whatever he is.

Agreed, there is far too much emphasis placed on records in boxing. And although it can be a brutal career, I think there's also far too much inactivity nowadays. Most fighters are just after the big payday (but I can't say I blame them).

A homebrew boxer have far superior skills than a lot of the kickboxer out there. Though similar, it's still a different league, IMO. Even V.Klitch is not the best heavy out there in terms of skills.

VK was, I think, a 3 times world champion in kickboxing. He was one of the best there and that is why he is the best in boxing today. I think that his abilities and toughness made for his sucess in boxing more than the fact that he had previous experience in kickboxing. The guy was never even close to being KD in his whole career, that accounts for something. Also, I watched his earlier fights against lesser boxers and he was unbelievable - he was going for a kill from the first second of the fight. He is fighting smarter fights today, that's why people say that he has no punching power. For those who say that - watch his earlier fights and judge his punching power after. BTW, VK is in the world book of Guiness for the record of most KOs in the least amount of time in the world.

It depends if the kick boxer has a punch or not, or he has better kicks. Because Holland does not have a big boxing tradition, it is the other way around here. A lot of amateur boxers switch to kick boxing because in kick boxing one can make some money.

I believe IBF featherweight champ Troy Dorsey and the dutch contender Eddie Smulders were also kick boxers before turning to professional boxing.
