Trout beat a cotto who had just lost 9 rounds to floyd, who was much lighter. Miguel took a lot of hard shots. I, and a lot of other posters, picked Trout to win by a wide margin and he did.

So if you picked trout to win, it suggests he was the better fighter. So would that eclipse Devon's wins?

      yes, i am sure.

alexander has a deeper resume. he's won against and lost to top fighters for a while now. even though he's two years younger than trout, he's a much more veteran fighter.

trout has one big win. miguel cotto is an eventual hall of famer. he's not in his prime, or at his best weight, but he was still a better win than any single win on alexander's resume. alexander's two best wins are probably urango and maidana. kotelnik was too close (i remember kotelnyk doing very well, but i haven't seen that fight in years now,) and he blatantly lost to matthysse

You cannot bring up whether a fighter deserves a Mayweather fight when guys like Alvarez are supposedly being lined up for a Mayweather fight. You cannot bring up deserving when he fought Ortiz after only beating Berto and Cotto after beating no one of note after Pacquiao slaughtered him.

Trout beating Cotto made him more deserving than Alvarez is or Ortiz was or Alexander would be. It makes him more deserving than Guerrero if we leave the personal reasons it would be great to see Guerrero get that money out of it. Don't talk about deserving when it comes to Floyd Mayweather fighting someone.

He blatantly lost to Kotelnyk as well. I can't see how Alexander won 6 rounds, let alone 7 to win a decision.

Floyd can choose to fight Donaire and make him go up countless weight classes and Larry will still defend him claiming that nonito is the one who called him out and how everyone else is ducking him.

He defends Floyd making JMM go up 2 weight classes claiming he called him out yet he hides behind the fact that Martinez is a MW

Well guess what Larry if Sergio can go down to JMW 154 then he isn't a MW he is a JMW.
Fact is Floyd is a cherry picking chump that chooses the least amount of risk for the most money. Funny thing is that when Floyd doea it his fans are ok with it but when someone else does it they are the first o talk sh it
but he already has a fight lined up in his own country its not even possible martinez wont do it atleast this time he aint trying lose his belt he just worked so hard to get i think his point is who exactly would you be happy with? trout really if he picked him ya all would have a field day. it dont matter who he picks you guys would spew hate

why cant i??? we are not children are we? so why must u ppl insist on acting like petulant children? idc who hes lined up to fight. none of them deserve the fight. idc what distictions u make idc how u try to justify it, trout is a ****ty fight.in fact, guerrero is definitely a better fight imo. at least one guy has a resume. and im not thrilled about that fight either. stop the nonsense. im tired of all the crying goin on around here. none of the fights at 147 or 154 will add anything to floyds resume, stop acting like they mean anything. i wont pay for a damn one thats for sure.

Even before all this, I didn't mind Guerrero, as long as the plan to fight in September is really the plan. If Guerrero ends up being his one fight this year though, that no longer applies.

                  In boxing it definitely is.

Sergio Martinez was less of a favorite vs. Chavez.

So he shouldn't fight anybody? That's a completely different discussion, for a different thread.
