Why do so few good boxers come from Africa?

Lets be honest. For the size of the African continent a pitiful amount of good boxers come out of the place. Joshua Clottey is a recent one who was basically a walking punch bag.

I know Africa is a poor place but a lot of world class boxers come from areas and gyms where funding, facilities and knowledge are lacking.

Probably has to do with training facilities.

And the fact of the matter is, African Americans generally speaking are not interested in African athletes, they're not very marketable. African Americans tend to not like Africans, it's strange but true.

Tradition. And the 'world class boxers' you refer to come from dirt poor parts of rich ass societies.

Why do few good Football [Soccer] players come from the U.S.A.? The sport isn't popular in Africa so the talent is not going to get developed, if the talent does get developed they will have to go over seas to make money and build a reputation.

Because of the lack of boxing programs, numb nuts.

Its not like one can just say, hey Im going to be a pro boxer and instantly be successful. There has to be boxing gyms, trainers, equipment, and there must be involvement in the amateur system.

With that said, there are places in Africa with success such as South Africa and Ghana.
