What difference does it make?? It might have been $2.999 Mill. As Arum just pointed out there were some contract stipulations which made it out of the question. Believe me, I read the contract, there were dozens of adversarial demands. Any one of them could ba e stopper.Which is why top line negotiations take so many weeks or months.
And, as the article points out, Arum told BoxingScene for publication weeks ago that Rigondeaux was the fighter chosen. So Schaefer knew this already and sent the phony contract to try to embarrass Top Rank in front of the unknowledgeable fans, in their never-ending PR battles for the feeble minds of the paying public.Comment

If and when (a big "if") Arum made the original ( amount never revealed) offer, why didn't SCHAEFER make a "counter offer??? The whole c****roo is a Golden Balls PR scam to embarrass Top Rank. They weren't able to steal away Pacquiao nor Donaire, and in every legal tussle they've had, Top Rank always comes out on top. Oscar must have paid millions to Arum to settle their suit against him which drove him babbling and crying into a rehab centre.
So they have an always smarting backside and they're always looking for the soothing lotion of success....Comment

It'll be the biggest funeral Las Vegas ever had, and the eulogies will go on for hours..the way bob arum is handling this is the same way he handle the mayweather-pacquiao fiasco.... he's just adding more fuel to the fire of believers that blame him for the figt never happening
dude is a scumbag, and i hope he's realistic and knows when his time comes more than likely people will rejoice... as unfortunate as that sounds but he made his bedComment

This sounds as if it's from a Mares divorced wife who hasn't been paid any alimony for a while because of financial difficulties. Why don't you guys talk boxing for a change, You don't know anything about contracts, or the ins-and-outs of behind-the-scene stuff, so calm down and think....or as the old advert used to say THIMK....Comment

Get a damn clue. Didn't you forget to say "Why hasn't GBP agreed to have Mares fight on HBO???" This is a two-sided equal issue and has NOTHING to do with the fighters! Both sides are not willing to budge their loyalty to a network.Comment

From Arum's perspective:
-he has to please Rigondeaux too, who is his client. Rigo has been demanding Donaire and was likely promised him when he signed a contract with TR
-Rigo was supposed to be featured on the undercard of Donaire's fight against Arce as the co-feature bout, but the fight was pulled. (proves Donaire vs. Rigo was going to be made the following bout)
Now if Arum outright refuses to negotiate after April 13 after Donaire beats Rigo, then we'll know for sure.
Either way, Arum is a scumbag.Comment
