He was outboxed by Zab Judah and put on an unconvincing performance against Devon Allexander. It's not a case of A>B>C logic, Mattysse is not that good. Floyd would pick off his flesh and put the bones in the bin.

He just knocked Dallas out last night with a counter. Dallas has as much speed as Floyd. Maybe not the reflexes, but speed wise they are about equal.

Matthysse is far better fundamentally then people give him credit for. He's not just a face forward eat punches brawler. He shows good judge of distance, utilizes his jab, and most importantly "THINKS" in the ring. He said it himself in the post fight interview. He saw that Dallas was doubling up the jab, so he countered the first jab knowing he would be open. Took him less then a rd to see and capitalize on that. He's been an improving fighter ever since he has gotten robbed. More aggressive and smarter.

Would be an interesting fight, but Lucas needs at least one or two steps up in opponent quality before you could really see him in at that level. Still a better opponent than Alexander though.

I also think its really funny that a thread about how Lucas being a better opponent than Guerrero has the typical, "LOLOLOL now people think Matthysse can beat Floyd LOLOLOL NSB hating again," responses. Yeah but Alexander's a terrible fight. Of course you could see it happening, Matthysse is seen as the best 140lber in the world by the majority so that legitimises him right there. But ideally you'd like to see him beat a Garcia or a Khan to really cement that claim, on a number of levels. At this point in time he doesn't even have a title.
