Comments Thread For: Cazarez vs.Perez Early Results from Chihuahua, MX

By Jake Donovan -Hugo Cazares aims to remain in the hunt for a 122 lb. title shot as he faces Rey Perez in a scheduled 12-round bout Saturday evening in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The main event is presently underway.

In the televised co-feature, Ava Knight scored a repeat win over Suzanna Vazquez.

Knight (11-1-3, 5KO) topped Vazquez (8-8-1, 3KO) in their first fight seven months ago. That bout was hardly competitive enough to warrant a rematch, but so goes life in women's boxing, and Knight accepted the fight as means to stay busy.

A close score like that in Mexico really means that the Filipino Rey Perez was the real winner.

Really close fight. The filipino had speed but no power. If he had any power he might have taken it. Cazares thumped him in the later rounds and basically mauled him for the victory. Cazares looked old and slow but still seemed to do enough to take it over the green filipino. Better luck next time son.
