Guerrero earned the fight. He deserves the fight. Mayweather is the WBC welterweight super champ and Guerrero is the WBC regular welterweight champ so he is first in line for a shot at Floyd's WBC welterweight tittle. Guerrero earned his shot with back to back wins over two top ten world rated welterweights, Aydin and Berto.He certainly is just as deserving of a shot at Floyd as Ortiz or Cotto were. Floyd needs to defend his WBC tittle against the #1 contender, Guerrero, or vacate that tittle. Yes, Guerrero did lots of talking to get the Floyd fight but he backed up the talk with two solid wins over good welterweights so more power to him. What welterweight deserves the Floyd fight more than Guerrero?

He walked the walk, moved up, beat Aydin to become the mandatory challenger, then destroyed Berto. And yeah, 147 is really bone dry at this point.

Floyd won the WBC welterweight tittle from Ortiz on September 17th 2011 so if he defends that tittle against Guerrero on May 4th it will be his first defense of that tittle in over 19 months. That is to long for a champion to wait to defend his tittle but better late than never. I understand Floyd is a great fighter and the top money maker in boxing but as a champion he has the same responsibility to boxing and the top contenders to defend his tittle or vacate it as any other champion. There should not be special rules just for him.
