Joe started his amateur career as a jr welter I believe. He went on to win 2 ABA titles at jr welter, welter and light middle or possibly middle??? -
He won four British schoolboy titles, starting at 132lbs. He won an international junior tournament in Italy, a multi-nations junior tournament in Denmark, robbed against a Romanian in Romania (at junior european's), I'm sure he won a couple of junior ABA titles at 16-17 years old at 139 and then won three senior ABA titles three years in a row at three different weights (147, 156, 165 - 91, 92, 93). He was screwed out of the Barcelona Olympics due to politics.Originally posted by welshwalesJoe started his amateur career as a jr welter I believe. I smell chemicals. That's almost as dodgy as Roy Jones winning the 1984 National Junior Olympics at Bantumweight (at 16-17 years old) and later becoming Heavyweight Champion of the World.
